...Okay, off-topic, but I read on Bulbapedia that the protagonist in the demo is named Orlando. Orlando? Seriously? The Japanese named the guy Omega, why couldn't they just call the guy Omega?

I gathered nobody wanted the code (no replies back) so I've deleted that post and instead asked on Tumblr.

I got an e-mail telling me my game is going to come to be either on or before (which is today) 27th November.

I'm getting the game before the actual Europe release date, 28th November. I ordered it at the Nintendo Store.

This isn't the first time I got a game a day or two earlier before the actual release date after ordering the game online (last time it was from GAME).

Monday I was DexNaving for a Trapinch and I managed to find a shiny one. It's not the gender I wanted but like I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. I'm just glad the shiny I found was something I was planning on putting on my team anyway.

This DexNav thing is draining the life out of me. I spent most of my playing time on Tuesday searching for a Cacnea but DexNaving a Pokemon anywhere except in tall grass is utter bullshit because then they can teleport wherever they want on the screen. I settled for a female one in the end (I was hoping for a male because I was gonna name it Sandman and it would have been super clever but whatevs), I just wanted to fight Norman.

I decided to go into the match with Norman only using my Combusken, my Shroomish, my Loudred, and my Quagsire. I also decided I was gonna fight all the trainers in Norman's Gym, too (which wasn't hard since they all only had one Pokemon). Norman was a bit tougher than I expected him to be, managing to take my Loudred out in one hit with Retaliate (he was at half strength but still). In the end I tried to job it up a little just to see if he could turn the match in his favor but when it was clear he was out of stuff to do I just ended it cuz FUCK that. Then I was supposed to cross that body of water east of Mauville but fuck that I wanted to go catch a Corphish. Oh my fuck was that a bad idea.

As I'm writing this I just finished trying to DexNav for a Corphish. I was at it for about two days. Thing about Corphish is, he's only available in three small bodies of water in all of Hoenn. If you're using the Good Rod to try and fish one up (which I was doing) you have a 5% chance of encountering one. After the chore that was trying to catch that bastard I tried DexNaving it. This is probably just because the water area I was DexNaving in was so small, but I could NOT get it to work while I was in the water. So what I had to do was activate the DexNav while on land. Now, if you go into the water too close to the Pokemon you're trying to sneak up on, it'll run away. This is especially hard when it also can teleport anywhere in the water, too. I must have lost about 20 (of my 400) encounters because the Pokemon showed up right in front of where I was hopping into the water. Another thing about Corphish? They're rare as shit in comparison to everything else on Route 117. So I had tons of trouble trying to get it to show up. I could never get more than 3 or 4 consecutive encounters before it told me it couldn't find any. And also everything else on the route would show up and shit on my DexNav so I'd have to leave the area the Pokemon the DexNav found was in and then run back. This could happen 3 or 4 consecutive times before I would be allowed to search for a Corphish again.

I wasn't even being too picky with my criteria, I don't think. I just wanted a Corphish with Adaptability and Aqua Jet. I found and caught two that matched that criteria. The ONLY two out of 400 I found with that criteria. I searched for a second one because the IVs on the first one were pretty bad, though. I also found a shiny one without Aqua Jet so I'm not sure which one I should use. Maybe I should sleep on it. I look like a fucking meth-head right now because I've spent my whole day murdering giant red crayfish. I only actually ate anything just about an hour ago and whenever I stand up I get really dizzy, and I'm in desperate need of a shave. Fuck Corphish.

Got my copy yesterday, I found a level 13 Ralts with Misty Terrain at Route 102 using the DexNav.

I was going to catch it, until it reminded me it had Teleport. Should have just thrown the PokéBall.

I got my copy on Friday and I'm doing pretty well. I've played the game for about 30-40 hours (can't remember the exact number), I have six Badges and I'm about to chase after Team Magma soon after they've first stolen the submarine from Slateport City. I beat Roxanne on Friday, Brawly and Wattson on Saturday, Flannery and Norman yesterday and Winona early this morning. You might think that's fast, but guess what? I certainly haven't rushed through any part of the game. I've taken my sweet ass time exploring every single place and testing out all the cool new things. However, I haven't caught every new Pokémon I've encountered and I haven't wasted hours on trying to chain good Pokémon with DexNav. I'm totally planning on breeding and EV training many Pokémon later and I know the DexNav will be super useful then, but right now I'm basically just training the team I want to use to beat the game. I always do that in every Pokémon game - first I train six Pokémon and beat the Elite Four and only after that I'll start worrying about breeding, EVs, IVs, Natures, Abilities, Egg Moves and all that shit. I only took the trouble of making sure my starter Mudkip had an Adamant Nature, and that was it. Well, okay, I also caught several Sandshrew and then picked the best one of them to use in my team, but beyond that, I haven't sweated any small stuff. I have, however, defeated some of the same Trainers over and over again using Trainers' Eyes, so now I find myself in the same sad situation as I did in Y - my team is ridiculously overleveled. I haven't even used the Exp. Share except for a very short time right after I first got it. The game is waaaaay too easy now.

Yup, that's right, I don't even have a full team yet and my starter is already at higher level than the final Gym Leader's strongest Pokémon. Woohoo. I'm going to catch a Spheal once I get to Mossdeep City. Level grinding her should be fun... Maybe I'll just DexNav a good one with a high level. Shouldn't take too long, right?

Anyway, I'm loving all the new stuff in this game. Mauville City is a blast and even BuzzNav is cool enough to waste a few minutes on every now and then. I even now know some of the important characters' ages and Mr. Stone's first name. The graphics are amazing, especially in all the cutscenes. I aww'd when Wally blushed while talking to me (I'm playing as the girl) and I very nearly laughed out loud at Tabitha's childish tantrum at Mt. Chimney. Speaking of, I can even take Team Magma and Team Aqua a little more seriously as villains now. Tabitha's silliness aside, Maxie is both intimidating and amusing in his long speeches and not-so-subtle threats. Still, I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I saw how shocked he looked when I first kicked his ass at Mt. Chimney. He calls himself "the great Maxie" and apparently thinks I only beat him because he didn't Mega Evolve his Camerupt. I just have to love him for that.

I just wonder what the heck is up with Courtney. She talks like a freaking robot. If you know the answer to that question, don't tell me yet. I want to be surprised. I'm somehow both intrigued and concerned, to be honest. She said "Deleting..." and gave an odd grin before I battled her for Latios. If that's not creepy, I don't know what is.

I was a little surprised at how small a part Mega Evolution seems to play in the game. Everyone who knows about it talks like it's already old news in Hoenn. Mega Stones can even be found in such mundane places that I seriously wonder who the hell wrote that stuff. ORAS is a remake of RSE, after all, and we know that RSE happens at the same time with RBY/FRLG in the official Pokémon timeline, which is three years before the events of DPPt/HGSS, which is an unknown number of years before BW and B2W2, which in turn happen several years before XY! How could Professor Sycamore talk about Mega Evolution like it was something that only happened in Kalos and that was studied only by a select few people in XY? (Note: That was a rhetorical question. There is no correct answer that makes sense.)

Anyway, I'm mostly really enjoying the game. I might grow frustrated at it once I start my breeding/EV/IV/Nature/Ability/Egg Move stuff, but that's still in the future.
