Great to see that Americans will finally be their SM Dub fix soon in may. Also, guess this means my home country of Canada won't be the only English speaking place to get this now, even though we will still be a couple of episodes ahead for now.

Hmm, I figured the way they were airing the show (and have aired Yokai Watch) they were going to air new episodes daily. Which would have explained the prolonged absence.

Feeling quite lucky that CITV are airing SM006 - SM008 at 07:05 GMT tomorrow, means an early start for me but will be worth it

The new dub episode really didn't give me much to say. The episode itself was fun and had good dub music and acting as usual.
However, there's something that is notable about the SM dub in general: it's Erica Schroeder's debut as Wobbuffet. Kayzie Rogers has retired from voice acting, hence the change.

So it looks like Rogers is done with acting in general it seems, that's sad she's definitely 1 of my fave actors from the Dub despite mainly doing Wobbuffet she has found success with other characters like: Max in Season 9, Cyndaquil, Totodile, the Eeveeloutions, lots of other things. She will be missed, but hopefully Erica can do Wobbuffet justice and that Kayzie can have a nice Retirement.

The mall episode was pretty dull, and its dub (which aired in the UK already) didn't do much to fix it.
Considering that sub fans are losing their shit over this edit, I guess I can bring it up: the dub cut out the scene of Ash's sparkly vomit. Yes, because that's the most important part of the episode, right?? Personally, that edit means nothing whatsoever to me. And here I thought it was important to see Ash and Sophocles escape from the mall with their Pokemon while avoiding Team Rocket. But noooo, the most important part is Ash vomiting.
Blow me, Bulbagarden and Twitter.

After seeing this episode, That scene cut of Ash vomitting was definitely the least offensive thing about this episode. The most offensive thing is that this episode was so boring that I couldn't even care if the Dub skipped this episode cuz it was that bad. As usually the Dub is good with it's music and acting, still sad that Kayzie ain't a part of the Dub anymore, but I'll get over it. My rating for this would a 3/10.

As far as the American premiere, it seems for the first week they may be airing new episodes daily, then it'll air weekly.
Also, Disney originally promised us a marathon of every episode (In the vein of FXX's "Every Simpsons Ever" events) but that never materialized.

Okay, I'm not bothered by it, but removing it just seemed extremely pointless:  Because the vomit was already censored in the original version as you can't have something gross in a kid's show. Also I doubt every dub-only watcher would have gathered that Ash threw up on Pikachu when watching that scene. |

So, one of my biggest problems with the show's Japanese soundtrack can be summed up in one word: overkill. But I think you all knew that. So why am I bringing it up in a dub thread?
Because SM008's dub kept the entire Japanese soundtrack for the final five minutes of the episode.

Now, I'll admit it's nice when the dub does maintain parts of the Japanese music, but the thing is, it tends to make very wise decisions about which JP tracks to keep. Every time it kept the regional Trainer Battle or Wild Pokemon Battle theme was a good choice, for example. It never did kept any JP tracks that were unfitting. For example, G6 Legendary Theme over a ballroom dance? Gone.
And that kind of thing is the problem: the final five minutes of SM008 had music that was complete overkill for a battle with a random wild Salandit. It's a wild Salandit. Don't make it seem like they're fighting an Aether Admin, Mima!
The dub should just stick to keeping only regional battle themes and then leave the rest of the soundtrack to Ed Goldfarb, as unlike Shinji Miyazaki and Masafumi Mima, he and co-composer/dub sound editor Akhil Gopal know what they're doing, and are good at it. At least for the TV show, they're the best Pokemon sound team ever (Ralph Shuckett and John Loeffler were the best composers for the movies).
Other than that, though, this episode was very good. But boy did it spoil one of the SM games' biggest plot twists.
I really liked the dub-exclusive music for the first 14 minutes. But my favorite dub change in this episode was its rewriting of one particularly unintentionally rude line of Ash's (where he said something like "you can't even touch Rotom?" in a tone of voice that sounded accusatory). This became, "Man, that didn't work either!", which sounds much nicer since he's not sounding so rude about a serious problem of Lillie's.

Thanks for implying that their both garbage at their job and not knowing what their doing. That's pretty absurd and no I'm not defending them because their Japanese and all but because they have a really top tier track record for their work and Goldfarb won't even come CLOSE to that for now as he's just in the early stages of Pokemon composing.
I don't see what the big deal is with the non-dub music at the end, I really don't. It's not that big of a deal and it's just music for goodness sake and this was actually a pretty nice Dub episode but of course even that doesn't stop you for going KAZOOIE on it lol.
Also nice contradiction on Twitter about "POKEMON IS NOT A CONCERT" might wanna think about that. Also I'm pretty sure the placement of music is decided by the sound editor of the Dub? Maybe that weird placement argument should go to that person.

Then clearly you haven't seen how desperately fans of the JP version want everyone on Earth to watch it only for the music. Thankfully, you won't find that here on Pokemopolis, but you'll definitely find it in the Pokemon fandumb in general. |

After seeing this EP008, I liked it but man the final minutes of this episode had unfitting music, it was loud, too much and I don't even think this was Dub music as it was JP music and kind of a shame because just like EP007 this was another good episode but ruined it bit slightly due those scenes with the bad music. So I'll give this a 8/10.

I've honestly never had enough of a dog in the fight to argue over the music. That said, I find it weird TPCi goes through the trouble of replacing music in the first place.
