Oooooooooooh dear... That episode description does not give me a lot of hope. It gives a little too much away of how it'll end. Deep down was I hoping that this is the one - Though in all actuality, I am hoping for a tie - but I guess it's best to get the heartbreak out of the way right now than be given false hope. Is what it is, though I do hope the following episode isn't the "Lol you're not allowed to keep Melmetal either."
Forgive my pessimism. I do hope I'm proven wrong but... it's just a bit heartbreaking. I'm not trying to go down the path of the Ash worship, but I am hoping that the whole Alolan experience will be meaningful to Ash's character and not be something to be cast away and forgotten about come generation 8. Assuming the rumors about him being replaced aren't true.

The title for episode 142 SCREAMS Satoshi vs Kuk-I mean the Royal Mask.
I doubt they would put that much hype into the title if this wasn't the case.

And especially if Atsuhiro Tomioka is writing this one and the episode preceding this one, and he normally writes for Torrecat in the Sun and Moon series. He also wrote the episode "Satoshi: a Timeless Encounter". |

Well the results are in and whatever the outcome is, I have to say it was highly satisfying and I apologize for my earlier freak out. Sometimes it's hard breaking that cynical streak. But either way, that was an amazing fight and the two Lynarocs going at each other, like a younger brother trying to surpress the older brother, was an amazing and heartwarming conclusion to their bond and arc.
That appearance at the end though. I didn't see *that* coming, even despite the title spoiler.

I'm honestly surprised how much this league victory actually blew up on social media to the point there's actually an official news article on CNN and some sports commentary on it too. But that's not all; both of Ash's english VA's for example, and also Rica his Japanese VA as well! I think there was also something by Masuda himself too.
Props to Gladion being like that older brother-ish figure to contrast Ash's more energetic youth. I still love how they laughed their heads off how the finale of their fight was their two Lycanrocs and their growth during the session. I like at the end where he ribs on Ash for spacing out for even Ash cannot believe he actually won a league. "Did I...win?"

I saw the same thing it surprised me that CNN even did an article on it, but that shows just how important the moment was though. When he said "Did I...win?" while the entire stadium was cheering for him really captured the emotions of all the fans that has stuck with the show for the past 20 years.
Speaking of which, I said this back in Kalos and it still holds true even now; that if Ash wins the league I will forgive EVERYTHING the anime has done that I didn't agree with over the years from the very first episode, to the movies, to right now. As of September, 15, 2019 I hereby forgive every single thing the anime has ever done, from this point on it's pretty much a clean slate.
Tim where ever you are, you'll be proud to know that Ash won a regional league.
I am so freaking proud of Ash right now.

I'm truly happy too, really. My personal hopes that this opens whole new avenues of storytelling of what may happen from now. I sincerely doubt this will be the end for out beloved twerp's journey, but only the start of something new, haha. As one goal ends, another begins!

The title for SM141 has finally been revealed-
SM141: Final Battle! Satoshi VS Kukui!!
And it only got one summary, which is the full one with the voice cast.Yeah, OLM did this to hide that Kukui was the Royal Mask Satoshi was going to win the Alola League, they didn't even have mini summaries.
