True, but TCPI used it on the last episode of the Diamond and Pearl series. TPCI did not use it, they kept it. Tears After the Cloudy Weather was played in the Japanese version of that episode. During the Diamond and Pearl series, TPCI retained A LOT of the original, Japanese, background music in the dub version. There were even episodes were the ENTIRE original soundtrack was unedited (this was mainly done with the big episodes).

Well then, I hope they leave this episode relatively unedited, while translating Meowth's Ballad into English.

Don't bet on it. TPCI even changes anime adaptation of video game music, even though its music Pokémon fans from all over the region know.
Okay, they keep a few, but it's mainly the battle music. Man, how I miss the way they handled the music during the Diamond & Pearl series....
Although truthfully I will be more displeased if/when they fill in moments without music with music, messing with the emotions of the episode.

I've seen other anime series nowadays keep the entire episode intact except the dialogue, which, while some bits are changed, otherwise remain the same. They keep the entire music unchanged, even the opening, which they only cut to 30 seconds on the tv version, but leave intact on sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation. Series like Dragon Ball Super, Attack on Titan, etc.

Series like Dragon Ball Super, Attack on Titan, etc. See, here's the thing: each of those series have music that was composed by people more talented than Shinji Miyazaki will ever be. Miyazaki's a good composer (except during the XY saga, where he absolutely sucked), but very very very very overrated, definitely not the Japanese John Williams people like Dogasu build him up to be. And so, the music of those other series are worth putting up with JASRAC's (Japan's music licensing organization; their version of America's RIAA) bullshit to keep. On the other hand, Pokemon's isn't always worth that trouble. As a matter of fact, I'll go so far as to say Ed Goldfarb is the best composer the show ever had, and Ralph Shuckett and John Loeffler were the best composers the movies ever had.

A member of he Serebii forums basically summed up how I feel about the handling of TPCI's Pokémon dub music starting from the XY series-In fact I never once said I hated the dub music, I just hate the placement of it (I already talked about this on the dub episode discussion thread).
I mean still don't think it's as good as the original soundtrack, but it's not really in your face for me to despise it. I would say Goldfarb does his best.
But it's because of the awful direction of it which has put me off the dub and makes me dread how the dub of Sun & Moon episode 21 will be handled.
As I said, the original version of the episode had many scenes were no music played and that helped with sombre tone it had going through most of it.
Actually I do hate one part of the dub music and that's the Mickey Mousing stuff. We know Pokémon is for children, there's no need to make it obvious.

New summaries for SM023 and SM024: Although I adore the Eisetsu City theme I actually did not think much of it, I just thought it was a very beautiful sad song they picked for an emotional moment. But looking back at that moment in SM021, I noticed the tone of the song perfectly reflected the tone of that scene. You have to pay really close attention to it. Same goes for Nyasu's Ballad (from were they played the instrumental part to were they played the vocal part) it's no wonder I got very emotional during both.

Full summary and voice cast for SM023- SM022 screenshots: filb.de/anime/sm/022 and SM023 preview video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlNZ5RlJtVgSo it looks like the new-style evolution sequence will only apply to Pokémon who don't change colour. Or maybe that was just a one time thing... I love that the Alolan Dugtrio appearing in the next episode is named Jessica, I just find something charming about Pokémon with human names.

Now the episode wasn't anything special and I probably won't talk about it again, but I still loved it as everyone got involved in what was going on. In fact this has been a major factor of the Sun & Moon series, there are no glory hogs, it greatly makes up for the Satoshi-worshipping series that was XY&Z.

Sure, but at least it's not like Black and White, where they made Ash look like an idiot.

Except I would take that Satoshi ANY DAY over the Kalos region one, because he was the least popular and thus nobody over-hyped him.
It's what caused people to wear rose-coloured glasses when it came to the Kalos League and... the Pokémon fandom became a disaster.
But it wasn't all bad, because thanks to unnecessary hate he was getting, I went from not really caring about Alan to really liking the guy.
I tend to like the underdogs, the ones that I believe are getting way too much hate when they are loveable (such as a friendly character).
Take Best Wishes series; too many people point out the bad stuff that they completely ignore it in fact had a lot of good points going for it.

Take Best Wishes series; too many people point out the bad stuff that they completely ignore it in fact had a lot of good points going for it. You know, I can now understand your complaint about the XY/Z series. I believe there are at least two problems with this series. The first problem comes from trying to fix the problem with Black and White. While Black and White did give him a laid back demeanor, they also made him an idiot. Not to say that Black and White was terrible, for I did find a few good episodes in there. In fixing the problem of making him an idiot in Black and White, XY(Z) did remove some personality that made Ash an appealing character. I will admit that Ash is more than just a Shonen type hero. The XY series made a mistake and had him go full Shonen. And I realize that was what was part of the problem. What I like about the Sun and moon series is that while it fixed the problem with the XY series, it didn't remove his competence that he had gained from the XY series. They seemed to have found the right balance to Ash's character in that he has that laid back attitude and butt monkey status, while also retaining his competence. I also like Alain's character. Too many people bashed Alain just because he won the Kalos league. I think people miss one important aspect to his character: his experience. Too many people assumed that Alain had crushed his way through eight gyms in 9 episodes time. What if Alain had seven other badges before becoming Professor Sycamore's Assistant, then going on a quest to further research mega evolution, ran into Lysander, before running into Ash? The writers never officially revealed how Alain got the previous seven badges, and the fandom assumed he got them all in a rush. Many people also call Ash an idiot for suggesting the league to Alain, but I ask, if not Alain, then who? I now realize that Alain winning the league may have actually been a good thing for Ash. And maybe going to the Alola region, going through the island trials, and going to school might allow him to level up like he did in the Battle Frontier.

I agree with everything you said there, I have nothing more to add to the conversation. New details for the characters appearing in Pocket Monsters the Movie: I Choose You!

Also looking forward to seeing the new visuals in the ending. By the way, did you know the SM anime has been playing original series music?
