New titles and summaries (there's no episode airing n 30th March and a 1 hour special on 6th April)
SM020: The Promise Between Satoshi and Pikachu
SM021: It is Time for Nyabby to Set Off! I feel ashamed that I'm very late at saying this (even though I posted the screenshots for it) but I'm very happy Satoshi got Iwanko on his team.
I mean who isn't? That's a goddamn puppy and only a heartless person would hate an adorable puppy, plus it's Satoshi's first dog Pokémon too.

Summary and voice cast for SM018 (once again Rotom Zukan's voice actor is not listed, perhaps he might be on temporary leave) SM017 screenshots: filb.de/anime/sm/017 and SM018 preview video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2Fdsao6XH4The recent episodes show just how amazing the animation in the Sun & Moon anime is, it flows so beautifully and we get a plethora of hilarious expressions. If you're one of the people who say XY(&Z)'s animation was better... yeah no, that only had flowing animation in battles while everything else was really stiff.

I wonder if this year's movie will have a Pikachu short with it. If so, then have it go un-narrated, for the love of God.
Gotta say, the last three SM episodes have been the following things:
The Rockruff capture episode: good.
The episode about Popplio and Rowlet getting lost: awful.
The Rotomdex detective episode: average.

The tiny trio on a big adventure episode was one of the greatest Sun & Moon episodes. Not only was it entertaining, but...
It was the first episode to fully show you how amazing the new animation style they're using for the Sun & Moon anime is.
The animators and artists can have so much fun with this, going as over the top as they want to with the silly expressions

The animation wasn't the problem. In fact, the animation was its saving grace. Its problem was that it sounded terrible. Even though I skipped all of TR's scenes (because I'd like to live my natural life expectancy), I was still at the mercy of some very egregious Mima-ing (that ridiculous theme playing over Popplio and Rowlet's bubble trip and that other ridiculous theme over the part where trainers and Pokemon searched for one another). Oh, and that absolutely unnecessary narration over Stoutland's reappearance makes me think the JP version thinks its target audience has the attention span of goldfish. After all, the JP version is no stranger to violating "show, don't tell". Their version of "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure" is a living affront to that all-important rule.
The Rotomdex episode was average mainly because it was a run-of-the-mill "who dunnit" setup. Plus, its ending was garbage. Even then, it was better than the trio episode.

I'm glad to know the Sun & Moon series is 1 million times better than XY&Z that all it can have is amazing animation and still have a form of greatness.
New summaries for SM020 and 21 (the one hour special will be on the same week as the Pokémon anime's 20th Anniversary, which begins on 1st April)-

Full summary and voice cast for SM019-SM018 screenshots: filb.de/anime/sm/018 and SM019 preview video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJIp6_rk3ZgOH MY FUCKING GOD, THE NEW EVOLUTION SEQUENCE IS SO INCREDIBLE! We now actually see the Pokémon changing its form. Also Ryu, the Rocket Gang have finally completed their Secret Base. I'm telling you this because you're skipping all of their scenes.

Also Ryu, [Team Rocket] have finally completed their Secret Base. I'm telling you this because you're skipping all of their scenes. I'll see all that I missed when the dub premiers, but thanks for the update. There was one egregious Mima-ing in this episode (seriously, what about them seeing an Oricorio change form warranted the Hall of Fame music???), but other than that, this was an average episode. An evolution happened, but nothing much else did.

We also find out about Mao's goal in this episode, which is for the Aina Café to be the number one cafeteria in the Alola region. A simple goal. The new evolution animation gets me excited to see more of them in Sun & Moon, especially when it comes to any Pokémon that change a lot. (seriously, what about them seeing an Oricorio change form warranted the Hall of Fame music??) You know, I was originally going to counter this with; "That Oricorio did a fucking magical girl transformation, it deserved the grandest of background music!". But then I quickly saw you were talking about the group wanting to see an Oricorio change form, but I still felt it needed to be said as it's the goddamn truth.

No TR and almost no Mima-ing should've made this episode just enjoyable enough. However, nobody won the battle, so what justified the use of the G7 Champion battle theme??? But the biggest problem was Rica Matsumoto. Like the rest of the JP cast, she's no stranger to overacting, but goodness, did she really overdo it here.
Plus, the battle itself was disappointing. The episode's best parts were everything before then.
I think I should also mention that Tapu Koko's JP voice (and JP name) SUCKS.

A new episode title and it's one the best titles for a Pokémon episode that you will see- SM022: Beware of Shovels!!! -You have no sense of humour if you don't find this funny. Another new summary for the anime's 20th Anniversary 1 hour special (SM020 & SM021):

Full summary and voice cast for SM023- SM020 screenshots: filb.de/anime/sm/020, SM021 screenshots: filb.de/anime/sm/021 & SM023 video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nBu3ZpkFBs Episode 20 was a very cute bonding episode between Satoshi and Pikachu, not much to say, other than it was enjoyable and we got Kapu-Tetefu appearing. But now we come to episode 21 and...oh my god, what a beautiful and fucking emotional episode. I couldn't stop the tears from coming when I realized what happened. Remember when people thought the Sun & Moon anime was going to be noting but comedy and were put off it because of that? Well this episode just proved those assholes wrong. The fact that they didn't shy away from death in this episode is what made it amazing, also I loved the grey tone they had going on when it happened and the symbolism with the leaves falling of the tree to show Mooland was fading away. Rest in peace Nyabby's faithful old friend. Nyasu's Ballad playing during Nyabby's mourning and then resolve was a wonderful choice, it's a beautiful song which has a tone that suited the entire scene. It's a shame, the huge amount of moments with silence in the background helped the emotions of this episode and TPCI will ruin it by filling them all with music. Now watch Ryu complain about the usage of the Eisetsu City music, thus confirming he cares more about the music than the characters for the Pokémon anime.
