You know people should have seen Goodra's release coming, especially when its whole evolution was presented in the opening. Goodra's case was similar to Lapras, the difference is Ash promised to return Lapras to its family at the start, we were prepared for it to happen, Ash's decision to have Goodra stay at its home didn't come until after the problem was solved and Ash saw how happy Goodra was at home, being back with its friends. Really what people should be complaining about is that it happened too early, Lapras was with Ash for the majority of the Orange Islands saga (although it's because the group needed a sea transport to travel across the Orange Archipelago) but Goodra was only with Ash for 16 episodes. Ash and Goodra did hope to meet up again someday.
But now Ash will have another Dragon and I'm not bothered with it being part Flying-type and Ash having three, because he always works great with fliers.

This. Once again, one of my favorite quotes from the early days of the show becomes more obsolete. "Pokémon not bad guys", my ass. I wouldn't say its obsolete. From the perspective of those pokemon they weren't bad guys but helping their leader cure its friend/child. For some reason they thought they needed to force their way into the spring though. Even at this point I don't think we've seen any outright evil pokemon (except possibly Spiritomb, who I think Ash even seemed to think could be redeemed one day), though we have seen a few that were truly jerks, and lots that were disproportionately violent (due to the recurring theme that angers renders pokemon much more instinctual than their usual sapient behavior). And of course its not like Ekans and Koffin really knew everything. Also, some pokemon seem to have a very non-human set of morals, one that is concerned more with "allies vs. non allies" than outright right and wrong. A good example is James' Inkay. Note its rage at the Malamar didn't seem to have much to do with what the Malamar planned to do to the world, it was just angry that one of them had mind-controlled James. I sure hope so, it'd be so disappointing if Ash meets Alain and gets nothing out of it beyond gushing over Charizard X. I'm not saying he needs get Charizardite Y right away (or even keep it with him during his main journey, he could send it back to Oak's), but at least start his journey for it. |

I don't know, from the looks of it Ash is going to continue being a trainer who defeats Mega Pokémon with regular Pokémon.
So far Ash has shown absolutely no interest in Mega Evolving his own Pokémon, he's just fine admiring the coolness of them.

So far Ash has shown absolutely no interest in Mega Evolving his own Pokémon, he's just fine admiring the coolness of them. But its never been presented to him as something he could have the opportunity to do either. I highly doubt he would turn it down. Heck, he probably doesn't even know any of his pokemon can mega evolve, the only ones he's seen have been Blaziken, Gardevoir, Lucario, Mawile and Garchomp (and Mewtwo, Absol and Diancie in the movies), none of which are pokemon he has.
I have no problem with him beating megas with "regular" pokemon, or even perhaps adopting a policy of only mega evolving against other megas, but it makes no sense for his character to have no interest in mega evolving, and his Charizard would certainly want that power.
Of course no Kalos mon beyond Diancie have megas so far, so its unlikely he would have a mega as a travelling companion (though it being non-six gen didn't keep Clemont from getting Luxray), but that doesn't mean Ash shouldn't have a mega at all.

Defeating Mega Pokémon with a normal one is an amazing achievement when it comes to the anime. That's more cool than Ash Mega Evolving his Pokémon.

Well, I definitely want Ash to be able to Mega Evolve his Pokémon some day, and I'm not even picky about the Pokémon. I know all the fanboys want him to get a Mega Charizard Y, but he could also get a Mega Heracross, Mega Sceptile or Mega Glalie and I'd be satisfied as long as he knew how to use them. Of course, he will most likely get a Mega Charizard Y because Charizard is so popular.

XY072 screenshots: filb.de/anime/xy/072 and XY073 preview video: filb.de/anime/xy/073. XY072 had a certain spooky story from the Pokémon X and Y games:  A HORDE OF FACELESS MEN!
Throughout this episode, Cole never casts a shadow (except in the flashback) alluding to him being a ghost. The scary effects of this episode were great, but the best part was at the end where there's a sound of thunder followed by a sudden, jump-scare like, scream which just cuts off. Also I love the music during when Gengar was playing the piano, it was awesome, TPCI better keep that in the dub, also they better not play any music during the screaming at the end. TPCI have kept unexplained mysteries in episodes before, they won't be changing anything. So I don't understand. Besides there was no mystery in XY072. The entire episode was about Bonnie, Cole, Gastly, Haunter and Gengar fooling Ash, Clemont and Serena. That is all. |
