862: Kōya no Kettō! Tatakae Numera!!
856: An Oasis of Hope!
The episode starts with a shot of a tiny oasis in the middle of some Badlands, here a bunch of Spoink hop about merrily, eating fruits and happily sharing with some trainers who happened to wander through.
As they leave a Grumpig from outta nowhere, and starts imposing it's will on the poor weak Springpig Pokémon, wacking one with an Iron Tail so hard it goes flying off into the Badlands, where it angrily hops away hoping to turn it's little Oasis home into...
Meanwhile, the twerps are sitting off somewhere in the Badlands, as Bonnie comments on how boring she finds the Badlands.
Badlands is such a fun thing to say.
Goomy seems to have a cough or something, apparently it's trying to learn a new move, so Ash decides to put t through Special Training.
It's Goomy vs. Pikachu, and he starts by having Goomy give Pikachu a refreshing shower with Rain Dance, then has Pikachu use Quick Attack on Goomy. He tells Goomy this is necessary because Pokémon get stronger by getting hit upside the head with attacks.
Before they can keep going, Spoink bounces itself in the way, and passes out. The twerps give it a bandage and let it recover, and Serena waits for Spoink to recover before scanning it with her Pokédex for whatever reason.
Ash asks how it got hurt and it tells them "SPOINK, SPOINK, SPOOOOINK!" and tries to drag Ash back to it's home.
At the Oasis the twerps admire the view of all the lush greenery and the springs that it all grows around as Spoink shows the twerps the evil Grumpig barking at the Spoink who tripped and dropped a bunch of food on it.
Grumpig is eating like a fat pig king, on the backs of the adorable enslaved Spoink, and that flashes the War Vet Goomy back to that day on the battlefield, and that just pisses him right off.
Ash struts up to Grumpig, laying on it's fat ass, still eating and reads it the Riot Act over treating the Spoink like crap. This gets Grumpig up as it turns the Spoink into adorable little zombies to attack the twerps.
Pikachu begins revving up an attack and Ash warns it that the Spoink know not what they do, though Grumpig's pretty open, and Pikachu has a clean shot.
Instead however, they retreat into a Cave, in the Oasis in the Badlands as the Spoink attack, and as they're inside a giant cage door swings shut trapping them inside.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE" shouts Serena, just as Team Rocket show up out of nowhere.
"We've done what any evil doer would do!"
"We've built up a wall between us and you!"
"To protect the world from devestation!"
"To unite all people within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of freewill thinkers!"
"To extend our reach to jailing twerpish stinkers!"
"Jesse!"
"and James!"
"Team Rocket blasts of at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare for a Grumpig fight!"
"WOOOOBBBBBUUUUFFFFEEETTTT!"
Team Rocket refuses to let the twerps out of their prison they worked so hard to get them in, and take notice of Serena's new look. They then explain how this plan all came together... IN STICK PUPPETS!
Stick Puppet Team Rocket were flying over the Lumiose Badlands when they spotted the Oasis. They then came across Stick Puppet Grumpig and made a deal to use it to get rid of the Stick Puppet Spoink. Which is weird, since they could probably have easily overpowered the Spoink on their own.
The twerps showing up was apparently just icing on the cake, as they were after the food and water this time.
Jesse tells Ash to give them Pikachu, and he refuses, so like a mafia boss she has Grumpig use Pokémon attacks on the Pokémon, Spoink, to force Ash to choose between his buddy Pikachu, who he's traveled with for years resulting in over 850 episodes, and 16 movies of their wacky adventures, or the Spoink he didn't even know existed until like 10 minutes ago.
And he chooses the Spoink, even Pikachu seems confused by this. Ash promises to get Pikachu out of this, but to do what they say for now. Chespin then, for some heretofore unknown reason decides to pop out of it's Pokémon and follows Pikachu to it's cage. After which Jesse stashes her key in her skirt, as James... leave his in the cave? I mean, it can't be that heavy, just take it with you dude.
There's no way this won't blow up in their faces.
Team Rocket are filling their balloon with an absurd amount of fruit, like way more than a Hot-air balloon should be able to carry, right? Even before adding in Jesse and Jame's weights, which is also an issue because there's no room anyway.
Meowth suggests saving a few morsels for Grumpig as Jesse explains that was never the plan. they're going to leave him to starve and die with the rest of the Spoink, and the other two are totally down with it.
Grumpig meanwhile is still controlling the Spoink, and decides to take a nice wittle nap, at the worst possible time, because now Goomy and Dedenne squeeze through the bars and are trying to take the key James foolishly left behind.
Apparently Grumpig wasn't really asleep as it grabs onto Dedenne's tail and lauches it back down the cave. Chespin also reveals his genius plan this entire time was to use his Vine Whip to help break Pikachu out of the cage.
While this is happening, Dedenne tries to fight back, as Grumpig continues throwing it around and hitting it with disinterested Shadow Balls.
The distraction allows Clemont to find a soft spot in the rock, that they'll use to break through with Frogadier weakening it with Water Pulse.
Dedenne continues to ineffectively attack Grumpig, and get blasted into the side of the wall. and Dedenne is unable to battle.
Goomy starts suffering more of that PTSD it got when it was in the service... and decides it's time to battle.
It then jumps and bites Grumpig's ear... I don't know if this was technically "Bite" or not, but it sure pissed off Grumpig, as it then blasts it with Psywave.
Ash has a spark of brilliance, and orders Goomy to use Bide. Grumpig then continues to use it's two attacks, and gets hit with the the resultant beam.
Grumpig, who doesn't seem quick on the uptake, is now more pissed off than ever, and launches another Psywave as Goomy sets up another Bide, but this one misses as Grumpig keeps moving it's body around like it was trained by Tierno or something.
Frogadier has then managed to at least loosen the rock enough that Ash decides to use his body as a battering ram and runs into the bars repeatedly, until deciding it's time to get serious.
Grumpig seems to have finally realized what's up, because as Goomy sits and waits for the next attack to power up it's Bide, it instead runs in with an Iron Tail, which as we all know will not power up Bide.
Ash manages to break the cage doors down, and intercepts the Iron Tail himself. Grumpig don't give a shit, though. He'll take 'em all on, he needed the exercise anyway.
Ash tells Grumpig that if it's looking for a battle, it's found it, almost as if he's suggesting he'll fistfight it.
Well, before any hands are thrown, Goomy... starts to glow super bright and transforms like, BAM! and that's when everyone goes "WOAH, that's awesome!"
Goomy has evolved into an equally as slimy, if not still kind of adorable snail thing... with hideous eyes, Sliggoo
Well, it was almost there.
Grumpig is now super pissed off, as opposed to before when it was just kind of pissed off, and throws another Psywave, that Sliggoo dodges by standing on the ceiling, and powering up it's new move, Dragon Breath.
It hits Grumpig so hard it goes blasting off, releasing the Spoink from their trance and landing in Team Rocket's laps. It begs them for help, as Jesse lets it out that they used it from the start.
Team Rocket are surprised to see the twerps escape, though, I don't know how they think Grumpig got there. Team Rocket mounts and attack and are bested by Sliggoo's Dragon breath, and of course, Pikachu's Thunderbolt and sent blasting off again.
Considering Grumpig got double-crossed by Team Rocket and even though it could easily overpower the Spoink again it begs their forgiveness and even gives out the food back to them, when the twerp Spoink offers it an apple, or berry, or whatever we're alling them this season showing it "no hard feelings for that whole controlling us and taking over our Oasis thing".
The twerps continue on through the Badlands taking no food or water for themselves. If you had a pool for how you think the series would end, dieing in the Badlands without food or water would be up there.
