Apparently Ash is giving his battle strategy away by having Froakie watch from the sidelines encouraging him to cheer him through the battle. Too bad for Froakie, but good for us because it's the...
Ash continues to blatantly remind Korrina that she watched him train, as she starts babbling the word "Mystery" for some reason. She then turns into The Rock and tells his Jabroni ass to bring it.
Korrina's first Pokémon is Mienfoo, which Serena's Pokédex informs us that it's moves get quicker and more precise the more it concentrates... I assume like everyone.
Clemont is worried that Korrina might be in Ash's head since he seemingly dropped the rhythmic battle style, which is probably only half true, as Ash stunk at dancing. Stunk on Ice.
Ash chooses to start with Hawlucha, REINING FROM INSIDE ASH'S POCKET, THE CHAMPION OF THE PEOPLE, as Gurkinn starts the battle. Ash seems to still be trying to use the Rhythmic battle strat as he has Hawlucha dance to the beat of his claps as a Metronome. Korrina then sends in Mienfoo with a Hi Jump Kick, and Ash tries to have Hawlucha dodge it, but it gets Mienfoo's knee right in it's back surprising the hell out of everyone except Korrina and Gurkinn.
Hawlucha is still having difficulties with its new creative direction, as it's unable to block a Drain Punch as well, and takes it right in the belly. It hangs in and goes for a Karate Chop, that gets deflected with a kick. Ash can't figure out why Tierno's strategy, that he's been using and perfecting for much longer than a week isn't working for him, a guy who decided randomly to use it like a day or two before getting to the Gym he's challenging, and then revealing his entire strategy to the Gym Leader he's challenging, therefore eliminating the element of surprise.
Korrina mocks him by punching in rhythm with Mienfoo, and asking him to surprise her more as he sends in Hawlucha with a Flying Press, but before he can get to the "Press" part, Mienfoo hits it with Swift in the air, which Ash helpfully tells us is not a Fighting-Type move, in case you were keeping score at home.
As Hawlucha's corpse falls to the ground Korrina tells Ash not to disappoint her, a thing many a men fear hearing from a woman, as she continues to rhythmically pose with Mienfoo. As Ash realizes he's in a dire situation,we get a glimpse of his dance training with Serena that we didn't see last time. He's failing miserably at dancing, and past Serena tells him that he just seems to have his own unique sense of rhythm.
This makes him realize that biting Tierno's style isn't going to help him win his battle, as he officially decides to drop the dancing. Hawlucha is relieved that he no longer has to adhere to his new dumb dancing gimmick. Korrina questions the logic in changing strategy mid-battle, but it's clearly working as Hawlucha is now able to dodge a Hi Jump Kick last second, as it smacks into the ground knee first. Mienfoo blocks a Karate Chop, and goes for a Force Palm, but gets hit with a Flying Press, putting it out for a Three Count.
Team Rocket have made it back in and have taken note that the Twerps aren't paying attention as Korrina sends out her next Pokémon, Machoke.
Ash gives Hawlucha a break and sends in Fletchinder with Flame Charge, as Korrina has Machoke run and then jump, then hits Fletchinder with Brick Break in the air, to send it crashing to the Gym floor. Machoke them levels Fletchinder in the stomach with Low Sweep. Fletchinder recovers and tries for Steal Wing, but it catches the tiny fire bird. Machoke throws it, as it then sends Razor Wind flying it's way. Machoke weathers it and powers up a Focus Blast, but it took just long enough that Fletchinder was able to get a Flame Charge off and knock it out. Despite it's pretty weak performance, Korrina assures Machoke that it looked good out there.
Well, Korrina's down to one Pokémon, and we all know what that means, it's the MVP Lucario. Ash decides to stay pat with Fletchinder, as Korrina punches and kicks at nothing. Fortunately, there weren't any characters from a foreign language visible, as most English speaking people are terrified of foreign culture. She activates Lucario's Mega Evolution. Ash goes headfirst with a Flame Charge, as Lucario temporarily blocks it with Metal Sound, Fletchinder keeps strong and breaks through and lands a hit on Lucario itself. Team Rocket are still plotting from their hiding spot, and trying to keep Wobbuffet quiet.
Lucario sends an Aura Sphere Fletchinder's way that it blocks, but that was just a distraction as Lucario is now behind Fletchinder and knocks it right the fuck out with Power-Up Punch.
Ash sends Hawlucha back out to strike with Karate Chop, as Team Rocket rush out from their hiding spot. Before they can do anything, Froakie throws it's white sticky frubbles all over the floor in front of them. The Twerps confront them as Team Rocket send their Pokémon in to fight. Froakie neutralizes Psybeam and Shadowball with it's Frubbles as Clemont and Serena send in Chespin and Fennekin to blast them off.
They don't even bother to tell anyone else about Team Rocket's presence.
Ouch.
Well, the battle's still on, and Hawlucha goes for Flying Press as Lucario takes it's Bone Rush and hits Hawlucha with it to block, and then sends Hawlucha into the wall for a three with Aura Sphere.
Ash is down to his last Pokémon, and it's obviously going to be Pikachu. Pikachu couldn't beat regular Lucario so Clemont wonders how the hell it'll be Mega Lucario. I mean, they don't call it Mega for nothing.
Ash makes the first move with Quick Attack, but before the "Attack" part comes up, he makes an Electro Ball, but Lucario hits Pikachu's ball with it's bone and almost gets Pikachu in the face, but just barely misses and sends it into the ceiling.
Pikachu comes down with an Iron Tail that gets blocked, and gets it kicked in the face. Pikachu lets loose with a thunderbolt while still being knocked away by Lucario's kick, which surprises the hell out of Korrina, but Lucario blasts it out of the air with Aura Sphere.
Pikachu's down but not out, as Lucario goes for Metal Sound, but Pikachu manages to hit Lucario with Thunderbolt through it. Pikachu manages to knock down another Aura Sphere, which reminds Clemont of Draco Meteor Climb.
Lucario jumps and goes for a kill with Bone Rush but Pikachu's Iron Tail manages to block, as they both collide to the ground. Korrina's impressed as both Pokémon continue to stand, Korrina is ready to wrap things up and sends in Lucario with Power-Up Punch, but it's blocked by Iron Tail. Pikachu and Lucario them go for Electro Ball and Aura Sphere respectively, before Pikachu finishes the job with Thunderbolt.
THAT'S IT, PIKACHU WON, PIKACHU BEAT MEGA FUCKING LUCARIO! PIKACHU IS GREATER THAN LUCARIO!
Gurkinn gives his Granddaughter the Rumble Badge that she then gives to Ash, and they do the regular "so, where do you plan on going next" shtick, and Gurkinn suggests Coumarine City. Serena checks it on her thing, and finds out the most important detail, that it has a Monorail.
MONORAIL! MONORAIL! MONORAIL! MONORAIL!
Gurkinn tells him the gym leader is thorny, and as they prepare to head off Korrina tells Ash to come back soon as possible as she will make Shalour Gym even more passionate then it is now, and he says he will and gives Korrina Repeck Knuckles, but we all know he's never coming back.
