Until now, not a word's been said about this movie on this forum. So, have the first trailer:
It looks fantastic, honestly. I know some people will have problems with some of the designs, but I like them all so far. And at least they all very closely resemble the Pokemon they're supposed to be; this isn't like what Dragonball Evolution did to Shenron (or everyone, for that matter).

It's Pokémon, all right. Oi, this is going to take some getting used to... Pikachu looks so soft and Charizard is pretty cool. Mr. Mime makes my skin crawl and Greninja was moving too quickly for me to get a good look. The others...were accurate and not too jarring. Just need a while to get familiar with them. All of them, really.

It's a good thing Detective Pikachu is the game they picked to make a movie of, because the locations are based more on our world.
Any of the other Pokémon games, were the world is more fantasy based, would have been a huge risk if they made a movie of them.

Good trailer and I don't know about you guys but I for one would love to see a Deadpool/Pokemon related video.
Deadpool in Pokemon that would be too awesome!

All of the Pokémon for this movie was designed by an artist who is famously known for his realistic Pokémon art: twitter.com/arvalisIt really bothers me that there are people who are unaware that the Detective Pikachu movie is based on a game of the same name.

I checked out Detective Pikachu Friday. As you can guess, I really liked it. The villain's evil plan was weird in that way that incorporates Pokémon, that wouldn't make sense if Pokémon didn't exist, and I love that they made the Pokémon look natural, like they're real living breathing things, and that it includes current Pokémon, and doesn't just ride the Genwun nostalgia train.
All told, as a regular watcher of the anime and movies, I'm a little sick at this point of "The Pokémon Theme," and/or Mewtwo. By the end of the year, Mewtwo will be in TWO movies. This one, and the 22nd anime movie.
Also, I've never been a big fan of Pikachu. (I prefer Raichu), but damn if I didn't fall for his cuteness in this film.
All in all, it's a good, fun flick. Would watch again.

This movie confirmed a theory a lot of people had from the Detective Pikachu games concerning what happened to Harry Goodman.
It must have been confirmed by the creators of the game, because I doubt they would put it in the DP movie if this was not the case.
Though now it seems pretty pointless to have another game to close the open ending from the first one, with the movie revealing this.

So, how close is the game to the movie, because i have a copy sitting right here, but did the movie basically give away the game, and thus there's no reason to play it?

Not too close. In the games you do multiple detective work outside of try to find out what happened to Harry Goodman.

Oh the game's storyline is radically different. The only thing that's basically the same is Harry Goodman's car crash (though why is for a different reason), Pikachu's amnesia, and Mewtwo having a role to play. It's a pretty fun ride and yeah, I'd recommend it.
