918: "Satoshi and Alan! Gekkouga VS Mega Lizardon Once Again!!"
911: "The Synchronicity Test!"
The twerps still have a long way to go to reach Snowbelle City. While stopping at a Pokémon Center, Alain happens by.
But enough of that for now, we’ve got an experiment to conduct!
Clembot Mini’s analysis of Ash’s Greninja’s not-Mega-Evolution reveals that said form change resembles Ash and only happens in battles.
Also, we see it (and, by extension, Clemont), like Albert Einstein, is more skilled in science than in math, since it miscounts the amount of times the transformation happened as 3 times instead of the correct answer of 4.
Algebra is total bullshit, but counting isn’t.
After reminiscing about Olympia’s statement about the heights this special water starter will reach, Clemont decides to test a hypothesis out. Ash and Greninja are going to be taking…
The test will be taken…
…with Yo-kai Watches???
Or actually, Battle Pulse Meters. Still, uncanny resemblance, eh?
The intent is to measure changes in brainwaves, heart rate, and other data during battle. So, during a test battle against Clemont’s Luxray, no results are found. No transformation happens, and it’s apparent that it won’t just voluntarily happen. And it’s a mystery as to why and how it even does. And just then, Alain drops by and notices the not-Yo-kai-Watches Ash and Greninja are wearing. And not even a minute is spared catching up. We’ve got a test to take!
Substitute students aren’t allowed, Ash. Though since Greninja is in the Pokémon Center along with Clemont’s Luxray, there’s no helping that.
Pikachu’s starting to hate being shafted, it seems.
Noivern will be battling against a Metang Alain got from somewhere. It opens with Acrobatics to contend with Metal Claw. After that doesn’t work, Noivern’s Boomburst is used against Metang’s Psyshock. Both stalemate on each other. Noivern’s next move is Supersonic, which hits. Another Acrobatics should damage it significantly despite a bad typing matchup, but the confused Metang uses Psyshock again. It hits, but Noivern’s able to dodge the incoming Meteor Mash and fire off another Boomburst. Another Acrobatics/Metal Claw clash decides the match’s winner is Metang.
One toll of the Pokémon Center later, and the true battle can go on. After doing some warm-ups,
during which we the audience get a good look at his fanny and Ash gets a good look at his fanny, the battle begins! Will Ash and Greninja pass it? Find out next time, as the journey is…
…already???
False alarm.
Anyway, Charizard’s Flamethrower mows down all of Greninja’s Double Team copies, giving the real one a chance to use Cut. This is the cue to Mega Evolve Charizard, so now it’s getting good. ChariXard’s Thunderpunch goes up against Greninja’s Aerial Ace with favorable results. Cut doesn’t fare as well, since ChariXard grabs it and blasts Greninja in the face with a Flamethrower.
Hope you won’t be missing those taste buds.
A Thunderpunch lands before Greninja can even generate a Water Shuriken. As Greninja weakens, the magic happens.
ChariXard is going down for sure!
It fails to intercept Aerial Ace, and gets hit by it. Dragon Claw clashes with Cut, and Ash can feel the intensity. But suddenly, Ash gets weak in the knees as Clemont’s graph goes nuts. Then…
And he didn’t even get to fulfill his dream of being a Pokémon Master…
Oh, but he can still dream? Whew… he’s still alive. But it can’t be good if he’s dreaming about Greninja ditching him. Still, the battle was called off, so there’s no winner nor is there a loser. Also, Alain won’t be entering the Kalos League. He’s got a mission to do, after all.
The next day, Ash decides to become Greninja.
Phrasing!
Of course, he just means he wants to get stronger. Still, phrasing. So, let’s see if he can really do that as the journey is…
For real this time.
