Wait, wait, wait, WHAT?! Tierno and Sawyer will battle for a place in the semi-finals in the second League episode already? Okay, that settles it, this League will be interrupted by Team Flare or there are only like eight or sixteen participants.
XYZ's biggest flaw has been its insane skipping of important events and making the Trainers accomplish things in an outrageously short time. I thought Sawyer winning his final three Badges in such a rush was bullshit, but no, the last time the twerps saw Alain he had only just decided to enter the Kalos League and suddenly we saw him already winning his eighth Badge when he appeared seven episodes later. That was real bullshit. Don't get me wrong, I know his Charizard is ridiculously OP and strong enough to sweep any Gym by itself, but... How?! How did he have the time? It can't have been more than, what, a couple of weeks since the twerps last saw Alain. How did he travel all over Kalos in that time? He sure as hell didn't walk, so I assume he either rode on trains or flew on his Charizard, but I'd think that flying to so many places would have tired Charizard out too much to battle and even if he used trains, he still probably had almost daily Gym Battles. I'm getting some really bad Gary/Tobias/Virgil vibes right now.

The main reason why I can't bring myself to care about this Kalos League is because of how poorly Satoshi's rivals have been treated (just like Serena's rivals). I don't care much about the battles (I only do after seeing one and it's amazing) but the character meetings I love, but in Kalos I fear there won't be much to it. With all that Satoshi worship, I can't say I'm surprised. I hope all you people who wanted Iris to constantly admire Satoshi now regret ever saying such a thing. XY&Z031 screenshots: filb.de/anime/xyz/031 and XY&Z032 preview video: filb.de/anime/xyz/032I love KiraKira sung by Citron, even more than the original one, the ending animation features Citron writing a letter to Satoshi which is what the song is about.

The grand "Legend VS Legend" battle airs for the first time anywhere! Well, except Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America, the UK, and many, many other countries on this planet. The 2015 blockbuster The Archdjinni of Rings: Hoopa & Pikachu and the Pokémon Musicians "Blockbuster" Sorry, but that is a pathological lie right there. A box-office bomb is the exact opposite of a blockbuster. With any luck, the Volcanion movie will do better. And no, website, Don didn't say that. The commercial blurb he's quoting did.

First things first: ALAIN WILL ENTER THE KALOS LEAGUE?! WHAT THE HELL?! I thought he said he wasn't going to enter! I thought he didn't have any Badges! I thought he only had two Pokémon! Not only that, but he will beat people I wanted to see Ash battle against?! Ugh, Team Flare better interrupt the League before Alain has a chance to win it. A few clarifications: 1. As Don noted, Alain only said that he hadn't planned to enter. Clearly he changed his mind. 2. Getting to the gyms and the badges would be a lot quicker for him. Aside from being able to fly and not get held up by character of the day sidequests, he also could potentially ask Lysandre for transportation assistance. We also don't know how much time passes between the episodes (look at how quick Ash's group seems to get back to Goodra's swamp and then Lumiose). 3. We don't know how many pokemon Alain has, all he said was that he had others besides Charizard. Regarding Avalug's defeat, aside from not being able to use Ice Body this time (Wulfric changed up his tactics), another important difference is that this time it got hit by Pikachu's Thunderbolt. If the writers were influenced at all by the games in this case then they'd know that Avalug takes a lot of damage from special attacks. And Wulfric also noted that thanks to Ash's improved state of mind all his pokemon were battling better and were more powerful than before. Just look at how fired-up (pun intended) Talonflame was. It was super intent on getting revenge for the previous battle.

Was going to respond to SeriousJupiter about that when first seeing it, but I forgot to. But yeah, I have no idea where you got Alain has only two Pokémon, SJ. Alain never said Charizard is his only Pokémon, he said he wants to defeat Mega Evolved Pokémon using only his Charizard and Ash's Greninja as Ash-Greninja. So Alain will use his other Pokémon against Pokémon who are unable to go through some special transformation and it means Metang was not recently caught.

Full summary and voice cast for XY&Z032 (this episode airs next week)-Two new titles and new summaries for the Kalos League- XY&Z034: Semifinal Full Battle! Satoshi VS Shota!! XY&Z035: Fierce Rival Battle! Satoshi Gekkouga VS Mega Jukain!!So this might be the first Pokémon League were Satoshi will be in the finals, the battle being him versus Alan of course (Alan is obviously going all the way). I will laugh if a Flare Gang interruption happens sometime during the finals, oh the rage it will bring from people who waited to see this happen for so long.

We don't know how many pokemon Alain has, all he said was that he had others besides Charizard. All very valid points. I admit I overreacted, but that was just because I have a horrible feeling that Alain will beat Ash. Regarding Avalug g's defeat, aside from not being able to use Ice Body this time (Wulfric changed up his tactics), another important difference is that this time it got hit by Pikachu's Thunderbolt. If the writers were influenced at all by the games in this case then they'd know that Avalug g takes a lot of damage from special attacks. I realized those things soon after I made that comment. I forgot that Ash only used physical attacks in his first battle against Wulfric. And Wulfric also noted that thanks to Ash's improved state of mind all his pokemon were battling better and were more powerful than before. Just look at how fired-up (pun intended) Talonflame was. It was super intent on getting revenge for the previous battle. Oh yeah, I loved that. It reminded me of Ash's Staravia at the Eterna Gym. However, unlike Staravia, Talonflame actually managed to get its revenge against the Pokémon it lost against earlier and naturally that made it even better. ...Okay, if Ash gets to the finals, then maybe I don't want Team Flare to interrupt the League after all. Unless of course it looks like Alain will beat him. Anyway, interruption or no interruption, this is still going to be one short-ass League. Only four episodes? How many Trainers will take part in it again? Unova League had the lowest number of Trainers of any League Tournament so far, it lasted six episodes and one of those episodes was a filler. Of course, the filler episode was far from being the biggest flaw of the Unova League, but if the Kalos League will be even shorter with no fillers, then I can't help but feel that we're going to miss some awesome battles. Ash won't even get to battle against Trevor and Tierno. I bet his opponents during those rounds will be nameless, soulless NPCs and we'll only get to see a few seconds of those matches. *sigh* Oh well. I'll be fine with anything they come up with as long as Ash will beat Alain either in the League finals or when saving the world from Team Flare.

Anyway, interruption or no interruption, this is still going to be one short-ass League. Only four episodes? How many Trainers will take part in it again? We know of four episodes, but there must be at least one more for Ash's battle with Alain. So that's five, assuming said battle won't be a two parter. Still a short league that focuses very heavily on only two battles, but provided they go for quality over quantity I am willing to accept it. After all, visually at least this looks like it will be the most impressive league yet. And yes Don, that music video chronicling Greninja has to be one of the most awesome things Pokemon has produced. One thing I find interesting is that if one assumes that Ash Greninja is meant to showcase a new mechanic in the games then it represents quite a departure from Ash's role in the anime. That is the anime has always been about advertising the games, but Ash has normally been more of an observer than a participant in anything barring catching new pokemon and getting badges. Normally the big new stuff gets introduced by a rival or other new character. Take forme changes. Ash never got a pokemon that could use them, he only encountered them. Mega evolution was this throughout XY, with Ash simply being an observer of other trainers who have them. Now he gets to rock a league with a mechanic/power that may be as world-changing as Mega Evolution. While it may (and I say MAY because we don't actually know how these matches will go) cause Ash's other pokemon to be overshadowed, I have to say it is oddly satisfying for them to finally give Ash this kind of importance as a trainer.

Sure, Ash was never into Contests (although he did try them a couple of times), but before XY he really hadn't missed much IMO. What did his rivals before XY have that he didn't? Paul used his Pokédex to check the Stats and moves of his Pokémon when he caught them, Barry apparently liked to EV train his Pokémon and Conway used a Trick Room team with clever move combos. Ash could have done all of those things, but he didn't have to. Right now I can't think of anything that Trip, Bianca, Stephan or Cameron did that Ash didn't do. Okay, that was a lie. Ash didn't evolve his Snivy, Pignite and Oshawott. He also didn't ask anyone to trade with him so he could have evolved his Boldore like Bianca traded her Shelmet for Juniper's Karrablast. However, not evolving his Pokémon was hardly new for Ash, so that doesn't count.

Bit of trivia that I can't confirm as I don't remember the source, but I remember reading that someone from the show stated at some point that they never had Ash evolve Boldore because Gigalith's body was too difficult to animate properly on a regular basis. An interesting consideration if true.

This is Magearna's original look from 500 years ago, back when it was still serving the Azoth Kingdom.

XY&Z fits so well with this and don't you tell me it doesn't, because it does, that song is basically Satoshi's and Gekkouga's theme after all. It does fit. I'm redacting that statement. I don't like that song, like, at all. Such a great team, but such an awful theme. Korea did it best. That AMV's clip selection was good, though.

Full summary and voice cast list for XY&Z033- XY&Z032 screenshots: filb.de/anime/xyz/032 and XY&Z033 preview video: filb.de/news/pocket-monsters-xy-z-folge-32-2743So if you were hoping for an amazing battle between Mega Lizardon X and Y.... that doesn't happen and then Alan goes on to destroy the rest of Trova's team. And during their battle there was a subplot of a trainer with a Trimmien challenging Satoshi to a battle in the hallway, making Satoshi late for his League match. In Satoshi's first battle, we don't see much of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if Satoshi-Gekkouga swept through the whole fight. Yep, both battles were rushed.
