863: Saiensu no Mirai o Mamore! Denki no Meikyū!!
857: The Future Is Now, Thanks to Determination!
The narrator brazenly announces that Ash is going to win his 5th Gym Badge, and we have a flashback to when Ash took Clembot's suggestion that he have 4 gym badges seriously, and he'll just return in the future, since that exchange took place in the past, that means...
That is a mouthful. Speaking of mouthfuls, Bonnie wants to fill her mouth... with food, because she's really hungry, as Clemont wonders if Ash remembers the deal they made... which is significant, because I sure don't.
Anyway, he kind of doubts himself, and if he'll be able to put up a significant fight against Ash which is probably a safe thing to worry about as he watched Ash destroy 4 Gym Leaders, and he left his Gym Pokémon in the capable hands of a sociopathic robot and has barely trained with the ones he did bring with him.
Clemont is so deep in thought that he burns the food he was making, making it practically inedible, which is great for the other Pokémon that aren't Pikachu, Dedenne and... Luxio, as apparently they're not allowed to eat today.
They continue on until they walk up to the Kalos Power Plant, though I'm not sure why they keep it in the Badlands. According to Bonnie, Clemont designed it, but he says he only helped with it's programming. According to him it basically collects solar energy in a giant Superconductor ring to distribute to Lumiose City.
Ash surprisingly says that makes sense, which surprises the hell out of Serena that he seems to have actually understood something for once in his life, but of course, Ash didn't actually get shit, he just thinks science is so amazing.
Oh Ash.
Serena decides they should go check it out for no reason and Ash is all for it, because there might be some rare Electric-types just roaming around, that he can look at and not capture or anything.
When they get there Clemont notices that one of the Antennae is facing downward, and as they run closer the Electric-type Pokémon with them (Luxio is still outside of it's Pokéball, BTW) start fizzling, and then their eyes turn red and they slowly march off to the plant.
The twerps follow to see a queue of Electric-types and try to follow but are too late. Clemont surmises that the Power Plant all the Pokémon marching into in their trance like state may be responsible for the Pokémon being in a trance like state. I'm not sure how he arrived at that conclusion, maybe the queue of trance like Pokémon marching into the power plant could be a clue.
Anyway, while that mystery lingers, Clemont figures out how they can get in the plant, it's the giant conveniently human sized air vents. Ash has Frogadier use it's Frubbles to stop the giant fans from killing them, and the twerps find no issue with this, except Serena who looks rightfully scared shitless about walking through a giant fan.
They crawl through until they see some workers tied up in a storage closet. The workers wonder if they're with "them".
Why, who is them?
It's a trio consisting of a Man, a Woman and a talking Meowth.
Hmm, I wonder who it could be?
The workers thought they were in need, ready to collapse and die originally and let them in out of the goodness of their hearts. After feeding them, they overpowered them because this giant facility is staffed by only three people, and then they told them of their ingenious plan.
They're going to alter the programming and turn the microwaves it collects from the Sun, and turn them into Pokémon control waves, and by pointing the antennae at the ground, they'll be able to control a substantial amount of Electric-type Pokémon.
I... Wha... how does that work? How does any of that work?
Well, it did, so here we are. Team Rocket are apparently held up in the control room, next to the superconductor ring, but they've locked all the doors from this closet to their location, but they should be able to unlock the doors from the Sub control room. The twerps then decide to knock down the door to the room their in, instead of going back through the vents that supposedly go through the entire plant anyway.
In the control room Team Rocket are marveling over all the Electric-types they have, Meowth calling it a universe, which I assume he said because the Voltorb and Electrode look like planets and moons, and the Magnezone look like spaceships, and I guess the Magnemite and Magneton are asteroids, or something.
He then catches on to a Pikachu sitting in the back of the class, and is surprised and wonders if it's Ash's, which seems like a weird sentiment because you kind of assume they did this exclusively to catch Pikachu, also despite how it usually seems, their is more than one Pikachu in the world.
The Twerps run up on the door and the workers tell them through the intercom, that surely Team Rocket can't hear that they're opening the door, sending these children possibly to their deaths.
They manage to get in and Ash tries to call at Pikachu, but he doesn't respond. Team Rocket can very clearly see them, despite their attempt at hiding. Team Rocket threatens to royally fuck over Lumiose if they dare try to stop them, and then immediately shut off all the city's power, which leads to near car crashes in the intersections between ugly CGI Cars.
The twerps are forced to acquiesce and we get a flashback of them talking with the workers about them wanting to reverse the current. Reversing the current will overload the system, and stop the control waves, but it's going to take the workers awhile, and they have to wait for the Superconductor Ring to turn red.
Jesse wants to be extra certain they can't pull a fast one, and has Meowth sic the Pokémon on the twerps.
The Pokémon now turn to them, and pretty much let Clemont, Bonnie and Serena run off somewhere else, which is the exact opposite of what Jesse wanted. Pikachu is first to strike, and hits Ash with a Thunderbolt.
Ash as he is won't to do manages through it and walks closer to Pikachu to touch him, thus breaking him out of his confusion and saving the day.
Jesse has caught onto this formula, though and has Meowth turn up the power which causes Luxio to tackle him, though it is curious why none of the other Pokémon aren't attacking.
Clemont like a big dummy rushes on and stops Luxio from killing Ash, and Team Rocket decide to turn their machine up to 12, causing Luxio to go mad and bite Clemont's shoulder, while still electrocuting him, as Team Rocket laughs at his anguished pain.
It almost gives the feeling that Team Rocket are actively trying to murder him at this point, which I guess makes it better they don't send in all the Pokémon at them, or the Electrode would be running their heads over or something.
Clemont tries to calm down Luxio while it continues to try and fry his brains out. Then the Superconductor turns red, and he uses his Aipom Arm to grab the wall and using himself as a ground instructs Luxio to continue using Discharge. Luxio seems to have some sense of itself and does as he asks, overloading the system and shutting the power out.
Clemont collapses on Luxio's back as it starts glowing. Oh my, I wonder what's happening.
James I guess manages to get the superconductor back online as he announces this with sparkles around his head, like he was an anime character or something.
oh wait...
Anyway, Luxio has evolved into a Luxray, and uses it's new move, Electric Terrain. According to Serena's Pokédex, Luxio can see through walls, which allows it to see through walls and find lost children. Which is a very valuable skill that the lede seemed to get buried on.
According to Clemont, Electric-type attacks get a boost during Electric Terrain, which seems excessive considering the amount of them, and then they send them blasting off again.
Later on, the Twerps apologize for destroying sections of the very expensive Power Plant, but the workers tell them that Lumiose is safe because of them. Not to mention that apologies aren't going to cover for the massive repair costs and huge tax increases the Lumiose City residents are going to see come next election cycle.
Clemont thanks Ash for helping him, but Ash insists that it's all thanks to Clemont, which gives him the warm fuzzies.
One of the workers uses the Helicopter that I guess was already on site, so he can go to the main offices in Lumiose City to explain to the Big Wigs why their expensive power plant is now damaged, and that they'll have to fork over some cashola to get the place running right again. I'm sure they'll fucking love that conversation.
Clemont marches forward and asks if it would be possible he can go with him, which is actually pretty smart. They're all headed to Lumiose anyway, so why continue to slog through the Badlands (still fun to say) when they can catch a chopper and get their quicker. Ash says they'll come along, because Duh, right?
But Clemont says no.
No? No? Motherfucker, it's not your chopper who are you to disallow anyone from flying back quickly and abandonning them in the goddamn Badlands?
Clemont's explanation is that he wants to train hard, because he thinks he won't put up enough of a challenge for Ash. But still, abandoning them in the middle of nowhere, while you get a cushy ride? You could at least tell him to fuck off for a few weeks, I'm sure Ash of all people can find some distractions to keep him busy while you train, or at least he could have his own steady place to train.
He then pulls an even bigger dick move and abandons his little sister with them, even though she also lives in Lumiose, and she's totally not prone to getting lost in the woods or anything, and maybe she'd like to sleep in her nice comfortable bed for a few days, instead of wandering the forest like a cavewoman.
And so, Clemont's gone for who knows how long waiting for his friends to catch up, assuming they won't die in the forest without the team cook, or get mauled by a wild Pokémon.

Yep, that makes sense.

Yeah, Science is so amazing, which is why it makes sense, right?
You may think you're hiding, but you're as obvious as your dumbness.
