825: Kaitei no Shiro! Kuzumō to Doramidoro!!
846: An Undersea Place to Call Home!
The twerps find themselves on a beach at the Muraille Coast, the narrator's tense at least implies that they're pretending this happened previously, and we haven't somehow found ourselves in a time warp.
Anyway, after eating (of course) Ash is ready to train to beat Grant, a thing you may remember he already did.
Serena has a better (worse) idea, how about instead they do a little fishing with a rod they got from the Ambrette Aquarium. Bonnie's up for it, because maybe they'll catch a really cute Pokémon, and Clemont points out that a second Water-type will be great for him to take on Grant.
NOBODY SPOIL IT, I DON'T WANT TO KNOW IF HE CATCHES ANOTHER WATER-TYPE.
Ash gets his rod (snicker) and get's a bite, Bonnie has a few theories as to what it could be, a Corsola, a Clampearl, or a FUCKING WAILORD.
But unfortunately it's just a shit-ton of Kelp, but just then the inanimate object starts attacking, it apparently is a Pokémon, and it lived in...
After trying to suck Ash's face off Bonnie notices the thing is hurt, and puts a bandage on it's head. "Skrelp, the Mock Kelp Pokémon. Skrelp camouflages itself as rotten kelp while it stores up energy until its able to evolve. "
The Skrelp then begins spitting some sort of goo at them, and Ash can't understand why it's so mad. Pikachu tries to reason with it, but gets poisoned. Poor thing. Before they can get too far a man in a white van pulls up to them (STRANGER DANGER! STRANGER DANGER!) and asks what's wrong, he takes a look at it, and determines that Pikachu is Badly Poisoned, which sounds worse than regular poisoned.
The woman in the van with him peeks over him and treats Pikachu with an Antidote, before the poison takes over his body and kills him.
The twerps thank the two strangers (Eddie and his wife, Lindsay) by introducing themselves.
The couple are "underwater archeologists", and they're investigating a sunken ship called the cussler which was a luxury liner that sunk somewhere. It crashed into an iceberg, which is weird, since they're by a beach, but anyway the Cussler was sank, and the current somehow dragged it all the way out to the Muraille Coast.
They thus want to find the Cussler and identify the current that brought it here, which sounds dreadfully boring. The twerps want to help, and the adults have no problem possibly drowning some kids they've never met before.
Team Rocket is listening and trying to figure out a way to get that "Boat Booty".
As the twerps get closer to the whirlpools... they stop. the currents change, and they're right on time, and it's time to dive. Lindsay shows the twerps their submarine, and they all want to go, only problem is it's not quite large enough for four kids, which makes sense since there's only two of them and they never planned for company, but what now doesn't make sense is why they allowed these four kids on anyway, if they only planned to leave them on the boat.
Clemont has an idea of how they can decide fair and square who gets to go, it's his "No Hard Feelings, Fair and Square Lottery Device", the twerps pair up, Ash chooses left, and Serena also chooses left (surprise, surprise) leaving Clemont and Bonnie to Right, though they say they're going to "pick right", as if they have a choice.
The device is turned on, and the arrows on the face of the machine go up, and follow convoluted turns, avoiding obstacles, and... you know Clemont, sometimes the quickest way from Point A to Point B is a straight line, what ever happened to flipping a fucking coin?
The twerps cheer on the machine, and... Ash and Serena win. Goddamit Clemont, you make a machine to do something a coin could do in seconds, and don't even bother to rig it in your favor? I thought you were the smart one? Also, Bonnie is fucking pissed, and looks like she's going to wack him one.
Lindsay and the lovebirds go down and coo over the schools of Water-type Pokémon, as poor Lindsay now realizes that she's stuck with these dumb kids who are amazed to see sea life under the sea.
Serena sees three Skrelp and wonders if it's the same Skrelp, because when whatever deity exists in this universe made Skrelp, they only made three.
Fortunately she was right, as the Skrelp is still wearing Bonnie's bandage, which is amazing, because whenever I use one, it falls off if I even drink a glass of water.
Suddenly the current starts sweeping them along, and ugh... I'm not quite clear on the next sequence of events, here.
The current carries them, and almost smashes them into a different sunken ship, which it seems to have in it's current and is moving it along, then the ship outpaces the current and keeps going for a little while, then they approach a graveyard of ships?
Huh?
Whatever, anyway the ship is the Cussler, as identifiable by it's Melotic emblem, and inside it are... Dragalge. "Dragalge, the Mock Kelp Pokémon, and the evolved form of Skrelp. Dragalge look very much like drifting kelp when they're swimming with the current. "
The ship that was caught in the current then falls into the graveyard, and the Dragalge begin spitting Acid on the new ship, apparently fusing them. Then a school of several different Pokémon swim out, and they all start mucking about. Everyone gushes over how exciting this is, when they notice a faint light.
Lindsay investigates the light in her oddly out of place 3D submarine, as Ash notices it's Team Rocket's submarine, as we for some reason get a small clip of the last time we saw Team Rocket's submarine.
Clemont fills Eddie in that Team Rocket are "bad guys, who steal other peoples Pokémon", as Team Rocket treck their way through the ship, the twerps' submarine surfaces, and they see no one but the Dragalge and Skrelp who beat them there, they immediately identifiy them as the enemy, and begin spitting Acid at them.
The Dragalge attack until the bandaged Skrelp recognizes them, and informs them to stop, and they begin hopping oddly through the ship.
Team Rocket find a GIANT safe, and are celebrating their victory until they Skrelp drops Acid on them.
The twerps and Lindsay catch up and ask what they're here for.
"Prepare for trouble, the meaning is clear!"
"But it isn't something you'll want to hear!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all people within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jesse!"
"and James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare for a Wailord sized fight!"
"MEOWTH, THAT'S RIGHT!"
"WOOOBUFFFET!"
Team Rocket announce they're here for sunken treasure, and Serena wants to know how they plan to get away with that... well, it's not like anybody has any claims to it, I'm sure the Skrelp and Dragalge couldn't give less of a fuck about it.
Team Rocket have applied rockets to the safe, to blow it out of it's spot, then make off back to the Magikarp submarine when the twerps are coughing too hard from the smoke to notice them run past, and the Twerp Tripartite run off to their sub, as the Safe is blown through the wall, and makes a beeline for the Magikarp sub. Before they can use the sub's pincher to grab it, they get attacked by Skrelp and Froakie... for some reason.
Lindsay tells the twerps that the sunken fucking ship is filling with water, and will collapse, and Ash declares they have to stop that from happening, he then shouts at the Dragalge to help, as they gather the rest of the Pokémon.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket shakes off Froakie and Skrelp, gather the safe, and head off for above water.
The Water-type Pokémon gather and try their damndest to keep the Cussler from falling, as they seal the hole with a metal plate and Dragalge's Acid... which again makes no sense, it's a sunken ship, and for ships to sink, they typically take on a lot of water.
Whatever, anyway Team Rocket have made it to the surface with their safe... but they themselves are not safe as they've pulled up just in the middle of four Whirlpools. They then impossibly get blasted off again after almost getting sucked into one and drop the safe.
Yay?
Whatever.
Ash and the other surface just in time to see Skrelp and Froakie getting sucked into another whilepool after doing absolutely nothing to prevent Team Rocket from obtaining a treasure they had every right to.
Ash tells Froakie to jump, because I guess he didn't think of that before, and Skrelp jumps on his back as they jump across random wreckage as he lands, and then jumps like 40 goddamn feet into Ash's arms.
He tells them they were both awesome, and then they're saying goodbye to the Skrelp and Dragalge. Eddie says they were able to identify which current brought the Cussler here, and blah blah blah, and were surprised to see all those Pokémon living together.
Clemont is excited about how far he jumped as Ash get's an idea of how to fight Grant for his next Gym Battle, which as we know has not happened yet.
NO SPOILERS PLEASE!
