After beating Korrina and scoring the Rumble Badge the twerps are headed to Coumarine City, but before they can get their they have a stop to fill their bellies with food. Apparently at some point they met today's honorary twerp, Blake. Apparently he's been on a journey for a year, and I guess never really left too far from his house.
Ash wants to ask about his Pokémon, Meowstic. "Meowstic, the Constraint Pokémon. When faced with trouble, Meowstic will raise its ears and create enough psychic power to demolish a ten-ton truck. Its appearance varies, depending on gender." That was apparently all Ash wanted to know about Meowstic. The new guy likes Clemont's cooking and Ash has already devoured his plate, and asks for more. As Clemont goes to fetch more food for Ash, because he can't make his own goddamn plate, he looks over and noticed that Bonnie has just been kind of eating around her vegetables, because she's a little kid, and of course she doesn't like them.
Clemont turns on his "After School voice special" voice and tells her she needs to eat her veggies so she can become and and strong, and have exceptional eye sight, and keep the Doctor away. Ash and Serena gang up on her, while also hinting that Clemont has Veggies he doesn't like eating, which is different because he said so, he doesn't go into it, because that would be...
Bonnie is still struggling to put down her Carrots, as Chespin knocks over his bowl of Pokémon food, and spots and falls in love with a female Meowstic, but scares it off.
Blake tells the story of Meowstic being a gift from his father as Bonnie chases Chespin and admonishes it for running off. They run around a bit then get lost.
Back at the table the other twerps are yammering about something when Serena finally realizes that Bonnie (who was sitting right in front of her) is missing, Clemont (who was sitting right next to her) figures she ran off because she didn't want to eat her veggies.
Blake tells them that getting lost in this specific forest is a very dangerous thing, unlike all those other safe forests that one can get lost in, this one in particular is unsafe because it contains Ponds, and Cliffs and Beedrill, the triumvirate of deadly danger.
Bonnie meanwhile walks through the forest, lost and afraid, when she runs into the Beedrill who shoots lasers out of their ass at her. Before she's murdered in the least dignified way possible, she's protected by... well, Protect, from the female Meowstic, and it's trainer, who helps her to her feet, but the Ass-attacking Beedrill aren't quite done yet, as they surround Bonnie and her bespectacled hero, until they - the Beedrill, not Bonnie and her new friend - are hit with an Energy Ball, and they fuck off... again the Beedrill.
Clemont and the rest meet up, and we find out this kid is Blake's brother. They get into a fight over how the other one was going to settle the Beedrill situation himself, as Clemont roars at Bonnie about not going off by herself. Bonnie tries to explain, and Serena and Ash try to be diplomatic, but Clemont isn't hearing it.
Clemont thanks Blake's Brother (Brake) for saving her, and they head off to treat an injury she got after tripping over a rock during the Beedrill attack. Clemont tries to ask her how she's doing, but clearly she doesn't feel like talking to him.
We get to Blake and Brake's house, and they live in a fucking mansion, they kind you live in if you're a successful business person, or Scarface. They get inside and a high class broad is so excited to see her Blake and Heath all right. She's been so worried, because they've hardly ever called their Mother, hmmm, sound familiar Ash?
They treat Bonnie by putting a single bandage on her knee, and she feels much better. Clemont thanks them, but Bonnie still isn't having it from him.
Their dad comes in and says they've matured, or something, and has them take part in the family traditional trial, to decide who inherits the family drug empire.
He tells them that they have to complete a task that's been handed down from generation to generation, it is... a treasure hunt.
Surprisingly, nobody bats an eye at how insane this all sounds.
The successor to the family's drug empire must find the treasure that he's hidden on the property, and they're permitted an assistant. Blake takes Ash, and Bonnie makes Heath take her and Serena, and gives Clemont to Blake.
The twerps head off in different directions as Chespin is forced to choose between the woman of his dreams for the last 5 minutes, or his trainer. Out of obligation he chooses Clemont.
Blake has no clue what the treasure may or may not be which presents the glaring hole in this treasure hunt, or the very least the way they plan on going through it, because no one bothered to ask for a hint.
Clemont asks if the Brothers Two get along, but Blake just insists that he just doesn't want to lose to him, even though they used to be really close and used to picnic on a hill when he was a kid. One day their dad, Scarface gave them Espurr, that evolved into Meowstic, which lead to the two bros butting heads.
Heath would lecture Blake about the correct way to battle, or whatever, and Blake didn't like that shit, because he's old enough to take care of him self, he says as he self-importantly storms off.
The story cuts close to Clemont, because he doesn't mean to nag her, but ash tries to reassure him that she knows he's only trying to take care of her.
Meanwhile, the girls search another room, Bonnie searches the pretty one as Serena goes and searches another. Heath is staring at something and misses Bonnie's question, so she asks wassa-matta-him, because his forehead was getting all scrunched and wrinkly, like Clemont.
She realizes what she's said, and clams up, as Heath mentions that she clearly cares about Clemont. But no she doesn't, because he nags her and gets mad, so she'd rather Heath was her brother instead because fuck Clemont straight to hell. Heath admits that he understands where Clemont is coming from, he's not mad at Blake when he's nagging him. Bonnie then asks about the treasure hunt, and he says that while he doesn't enjoy fighting with Blake, Blake also wouldn't like it if he threw the competition.
The twerps plus two bring a whole bunch of shit before Father Scarface, but none of them are the treasure. He decides to give them a hint, now of all times. The treasure isn't the garbage they already have lying around the house it's outside.
What a dickbag, that would have been useful information earlier.
It also has something to do with the both of the boys. They seem to have a good idea, and then head out to search. Blake remembers a time when they told each other that they'd never forget the thing that happened this day, even when they're all grown up, which is an oddly specific thing to remember.
Blake runs towards the secret place him and his brother found where rare flowers bloom. They were also almost attacked by a stampeding Venipede, but scared it off by throwing rocks at it. They then gave the flowers to their mother, who loved them.
They made Mom and Daddy Scarface really happy according to Heath, who somehow remembers the same thought. Both teams meet up, before the can reminiscence any more a PISSED of Exploud comes from out of nowhere and starts using Hyper Voice.
You may remember Exploud because the last time we saw it - unless we saw it another time that I'm forgetting, and if I am, I'm ignoring it because who's gonna stop me? - it attempted to eat Iris' Axew whole. Without even chewing. Whole. In the mouth. Down the Esophagus. Into the stomach. Whole.
This Exploud seems to want to make a snack of female Meowstic, but Chespin ain't letting that happen. Clemont has it use Pin Missile, which knocks it the hell back, through the air, but you know the old saying, "an Exploud always lands on it's feet".
Ash and Pikachu prepare to chase it away, but Heath and Blake step to it, and decide to take it out together. They have both their Meowstic use Scratch, and it connects, and knocks it back again, but as the old saying warns, "An Exploud never forgets", and it sturdies itself again on it's feet, still not taking a fall. It tries to Bite the female Meowstic, but she dodges, as male Meowstic tries another Scratch, but catches a punch to the gut, unlike that popular saying Meowstic don't land on it's two feet.
Exploud prepares to stomp the shit out of male Meowstic, but female Meowstic blocks with a Protect, sending Exploud tumbling back to it's feet, because "Exploud wobbles, but it don't fall down."
The brother's then discuss their strategy, and Heath lets Blake have the attack, as the female Meowstic picks up Exploud with Psychic and male Meowstic blasts with Energy Ball, and this finally knocks the Exploud on it's ass, as it brings back memories to the brothers of when they used to battle when they were younger.
However, Exploud reveals that it was only playing Possum-type Pokémon and prepares to, I guess eat Bonnie whole (I mean, she's not much bigger than an Axew) and Clemont stands in front of her to protect her... when...
Daddy Scarface calls it off, and it turns around to reveal it's dual assholes to the audience. It's their father's Pokémon, who he instructed to wait for them and beat the shit out of them, there. Because he wanted them to remember when they battled like a team, shoulder-to-shoulder like characters on a Multi-camera sitcom.
The treasure wasn't a corporeal treasure, but the bond they share. They apologize, and the twerps then look towards Bonnie and Clemont, Clemont starts by telling Bonnie that he'll never stop caring about her, and that's why he nags her, but Bonnie admits that maybe she should have told someone when she was leaving and even concedes that she'll eat every one of her veggies from here on out, and asks if he'll always be her big brother, and of course he says yes, because she's his little sister and he loves her.
Thusly, all's well, that ends well.
Well, speaking of love, Chespin has gathered a bunch of flowers for his love, Meowstic.
While she goes to her love, Meowstic.
Serena tells Chespin to cheer up as they laugh at the poor little thing's humiliation and rejection. Such great friends.
And so, the twerps head off with all the loose ends tied up... well, except for the one about who gets the family's drug empire.
