He is very much alive:- www.behindthevoiceactors.com/forums/showthread.php?p=84353#post84353. The rumour of his death came after it was revealed he was replaced by Dan Green as the voice of Mewtwo in the Pokémon anime, but there was no proof of this, even his Wikipedia page doesn't mention anything about it. People just assumed he was because he seemingly disappeared, nobody heard from Bartlett again, when in fact he was still around & now using his real name, Jay Goede and nobody realized this until now. In the discussion Goede talks about his rumoured death, how it was like to record the first Pokémon movie, reveals that he also played the voice of Dr. Fuji and there's a conversation were Jay Goede believe his ego was the reason why he didn't get asked to come back to reprise the role for Mewtwo in Mewtwo Returns. By the way I made this topic here because while Pokémon is connected, it's about a voice actor.

Yup. Not being dead is generally pretty awesome.

It's like when we congratulate someone for having a birthday. It's like we're saying "well done for not dying for another year."
