The twerps continue on their way to Shalour City as Bonnie is having a major crisis. Possibly the biggest crisis a little girl like Bonnie could possibly have.
HER HAIR WON'T BEHAVE!
It might work a little better if she didn't brush it as if she's trying to rip it out of her scalp. Serena being a slightly bigger girl lends a hand and even decides to try something "different", and she affixes a flower accessory to it. Bonnie loves it, she just thinks it's so cute.
Suddenly a gentle breeze blows and a tiny Pokémon wafts by and attaches itself to Bonnie's hair. "Flabébé, the Single Bloom Pokémon, Flabébé chooses a favorite flower at the beginning of it's life and takes care of it from then on." Despite what the Pokédex says this Flabébé flew by without a flower and looks pretty depressed. They assume it must be hungry, since they've been hanging around Ash so long "hunger" has replaced many other regular human emotions. They feed it flower nectar that Serena just happens to have because she moonlights as a Bee on the weekends.
Flabébé's spirit picks up a little as the twerps wonder why it decided to land in Bonnie's hair. Well, Bonnie has an answer, and that it that her hair is as beautiful as a flower thanks to Serena. Well, it's more of an answer than the other twerps have come up with, and Flabébé doesn't disagree... unless it was disagreeing. I don't know, I don't speak Flabébé. Bonnie asks Clemont to keep it, while also hilariously ignoring Dedenne. Clemont agrees, which will also leave Serena as the last twerp with only one Pokémon, except the Pokéball doesn't work. Which means that Flabébé already has a trainer.
But Bonnie isn't willing to accept this, because Flabébé is hers goddammit, and that's just the way it is. Looks like the twerps are going to have...
I'm sorry, that wasn't good wordplay at all.
Anyway the twerps decide to go to the Pokémon Center because maybe Nurse Joy will know something about it's trainer. Which seems really ambitious. Bonnie dreads having to give up her new Pokémon friend. Suddenly an old man comes out of nowhere and starts hugging Bonnie and declaring "it's you!", while Clemont looks pissed in the background.
STRANGER DANGER!
The man backs up off of Bonnie and we find out he's not an old pervert but is instead Flabébé's trainer... but Flabébé doesn't seem that excited to see him. Maybe he is just an old pervert? Ash decides to cut down on the weirdness and that everyone should introduce themselves, and the possible pervert introduces himself as "Gray", and he is Flabébé's trainer. Despite this Flabébé still doesn't seem to want to leave Bonnie's hair.
Clemont starts asking the hard hitting questions, like "why doesn't Flabébé have it's own flower?" Gray begins explaining that it did, and we get a flashback to his house with him Flabébé and his wife, Florence. Florence cherished Flabébé with all her heart until one day she collapsed in her garden. Florence was then rushed to the hospital, and in the middle of the night Flabébé decided to travel to the hospital to see her. It watched sadly watched Florence through the window, until a strong wind blew through and knocked it away, dropping it's flower. It tried to recover it, but a car ran it over - the flower, not Flabébé - and the resulting breeze blew Flabébé away.
Apparently the Doctor told Gray that Florence is all finished with her treatments, but she's not back to her normal happy self, because of an emotional issue... which doesn't seem like something a doctor would say. Anyway, Gray declares that he must bring Flabébé back to her as soon as he can, and maybe Florence will feel better. But without it's Flower Flabébé will just get weaker. Well, there's plenty of flowers in the area, so that should be that right?
Wrong! Like Pangoro some episodes back, Flabébé needs a special flower that no other flower can replace. The flower it needs is a Fairy Flower, and can't be found at a Flower Shop. Serena checks with her Pokédex and notices that Bonnie's hair looks similar to a Fairy Flower. Clemont kind of insultingly informs everybody that Flabébé didn't attach itself to Bonnie because it thought she was cute, but because it thought Bonnie's hair was was a Fairy Flower, which Bonnie doesn't take well to. Gray doesn't know what to do, but Ash has an idea, it looks like it's up to the twerps...
THERE! Much better!
um... anyway. They tell him that he can return to his wife while they get the flower fr Flabébé, and since there's no chance these kids he's never met before will cut and run off with his Pokémon, he agrees and goes back to his wife.
Meanwhile, the twerps take Flabébé to the Pokémon center as a minor fix to stave it from death just a little longer. Joy fortunately happens to know where fairy Flowers grow... but they're out of season. But the Twerps really have no choice and go off to give it a shot, while a mysterious group of three inside the Pokémon Center decide to give their own "opportunity" a shot.
Just outside of the Pokémon Center Ash is already at a loss of which way to go, fortunately he has two other slightly more competent friends who know how to work maps. As they begin to make their way they're stopped by three people they've never seen before speaking in horrendous German accents, adding "DON'CHA KNOW" at the ends of their sentences, similar to how people tend to think Canadians speak by adding "Eh" after every sentence.
The three offer to give them a tour of the area, and maybe they'll find a Fairy Flower, or two DON'CHA KNOW.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
Today, the first four customers get the tour for free. What a strange coincidence, because it's not like the twerps were going to be paying for it anyway, DON'CHA KNOW.
The twerps babble about taking up this super special and convenient offer, as Clemont takes this time to mock their foreign verbal tick.
What a Jackass.
They get to "Fairy Flower land", by walking. The twerps kind of catch on that the guides were kind of useless because they just walked the path, and would have got their just as easily, but Serena reminds them they don't have time to think (lucky for Ash) and have to find the Fairy Flower. They start looking and after finding not even a Fire Flower declare that Nurse Joy apparently knows more about the area she lives in than they thought and there are absolutely no Fairy Flowers to be seen. Why would she lie about it?
The twerps notice that their tour guides are standing around being useless and demand they help, since after all they're not not paying them to do nothing. They then begin faking like they're looking by standing in one place and just kind of calling for a Fairy Flower, unsurprisingly the Fairy Flower doesn't come when called.
Suddenly, Flabébé's Spider-Sense starts tingling and it alerts the twerps to the location of the one Fairy Flower in the area. It's growing in the side of a ledge. Flabébé's too weak to fly up to it, so Action Hero Ash decides to go instead... except he can't because Serena informs him that it must still be planted for Flabébé to be capable of using it.
So, Bonnie decides that she'll scale the cliff instead, which is the most logical option since none of the twerps has a Flying-type Pokémon that flies and can take flight and fly Flabébé to the flower instead with it's wings and aerodynamic lift.
The twerps watch the little girl slowly climb the wall, while Pikachu stands on a rock slightly behind them out of their peripheral vision. Bonnie almost falls as a rock collapses under her while the twerps hold their breath, but she regains their footing and they can breath again.
The three guides then suddenly decide that while Pikachu is standing outside of the twerps peripheral vision like I mentioned before is the perfect time to try to steal him.
Bonnie manages to make it to the flower, and Flabébé grabs on to it, then suddenly the twerps hear Pikachu in distress. Ash asks what they're doing and they throw off their clothes to reveal who they are.
"Prepare for trouble, things are alright!"
"'Cause catching Pikachu makes our world alright!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all people within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"And James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now or prepare for one fine flowery fight!"
"Meowth, that's right!"
"WOBBBUFFEETTT!"
Team Twerp should have known it was them, what with the furry midget who traveled with them and all, and they prepare to fight and send in Froakie, Fennekin and Chespin. While Team Rocket send in Pumpkaboo, Wobbuffet and Inkay
Team Rocket hold up surprisingly well, with Wobbuffet bouncing back Froakie and Chespin's Water Pulse and Pin Missile. They then hit the twerps with Psybeam and Shadow Ball and have the twerps Pokémon on the run, which doesn't happen to often.
But finally Flabébé finishes with it's flower and flies off with it and starts sprinkling Team Rocket's Pokémon and themselves with stuff to make them feel relaxed, and they decide to let Pikachu go.
Ash wonders what the fuck is up with Team Rocket and Clemont explains that Flabébé is a tiny Drug Dealer and is spreading it's pollen to make them feel "wonderfully relaxed". The twerps fuck off back to the Hospital leaving Team Rocket high as a kite laying in the grass as sitar music plays.
Back at the Hospital the Sun is setting as Gray tells Florence of the strange kids he met for all of 10 minutes still assuming that they're 100% trustworthy. Fortunately for Gray they are trustworthy and show up at Florence's room with the fully restored Flabébé. It happily floats over to Florence as she feels much better having seen them. She thanks the twerps as the explain that it's all thanks to Bonnie because she climbed up the steep cliff to help it get to its flower.
Bonnie's still sad and gives Flabébé a heartfelt goodbye speech and tells it to take care of them. As they leave the hospital Bonnie's still sad about leaving Flabébé as Dedenne realizes that she's forgotten all about it, and jumps on her shoulder to both cheer her up and remind her that she's still stuck with it.
They're ALL still stuck with it!
