I always thought that we refer to western animations as "cartoons", and Japanese animations as "anime"... Or, at least, this is how people on the Internet differentiate them. Yes, that's basically it. We all call Japanese cartoons "anime" in order to differentiate it from western animation.

Is uh... Is that James? I suppose that explains a lot, and by the looks of it, he made a LOT of men happy. *Tug* *Tug*

It was because of 9/11. You know, the terrible event in America where lots of lives were lost? They did it out of respect so not to offend people. And because of that, it was strange that they didn't remove the scene of Tentacruel smashing the skyscraper from the first season dub opening. Well, I might as well admit that I am partially wrong. But still, the episode first aired on October 1st, 1998 in America, nearly three years before the September 11th, 2001 events, so I do not get why the episode was banned. It is not like Pokemon was responsible for that tragedy, and the episode did not resemble these events in the least, aside from a brief scene. And it was not a plane that smashed the skyscraper, or even a Pokemon capable of flying! Maybe I do not get why they banned the episode because I never associated it with the September 11th events in any way. Also, if Americans think that their children are so dumb that they can not tell real violence from fake violence, then they underestimate and even insult their intellectual skills and mentality. All channels were showing these events all the time for DAYS after they happened! Is this more okay for kids to watch than a pissed jellyfish and a bunch of idiots? I remember an episode of The Simpson's getting banned after 9/11, too. Granted, this episode actually involved the towers in question. It was the one where Barney got Homer's car booted in between the towers, and he had to wait for the police to remove it. Eventually the episode was re-instated. Probably more episodes of shows had this happen to them, but I don't know.

Probably more episodes of shows had this happen to them, but I don't know. Neither do I. What I know for sure is that animated shows are a VERY easy target for censorship. For some reason, they did not censor the "big" channels, the news, or even gossip shows in some cases, that played clips of the September 11th events in repeat for days. Regarding censorships, pfft! Ridiculousness/hypocrisy has no limit! There have been over the top "amazing" censorships in the media history! In the country I live, for example, they criticized Spongebob Squarepants for passing "gay messages". Spongebob was broadcast on a secondary channel, and had the audacity to attract a decent amount of views. Meanwhile, the primary channels (you know, the propaganda ones that serve "those" people's behalfs) are full of gay people, and, occasionally, homosexuals literally parade in the streets (and, of course, the news always broadcast those parades). Ironically, the VERY SAME people who criticize Spongebob, also promote anti-racist movements. Here, take a fanart image consisting of all James' crossdressings, along with their respective number of episode (spoiler tagged because of large size): {Spoiler} Here is the sourceAlso, thanks to Don for finding the source.

What's with that smile, Gary? Hmmm? I guess this one requires a bit, perverted imagination like mine... BUT NOT THIS ONE! Hmm... "Has your taste," huh? And how would you know about that, huuuuuuh?

I still laugh at it showing his butt being bitten. This gif and the one I previously posted are both made by me. Another one of my full body images: Your minds need to be in the gutter for this one. ...Yes, I'm talking about NSFW thoughts in your head (I feel so perverted).

I spotted another mistake - Pikachu didn't defeat Trip's Serperior with "an impressive combination of Electro Ball and Thunderbolt", it was a combination of Electro Ball and Iron Tail.
Anyway, what a great read. Thanks, Don.

It's not dodgy, but this is one of the best pieces of fanart that you will see: teppo.fem.jp/beshugo.htmIt contains every character who has appeared in the BW series (it is linked to the original source btw).

It's a shame that Burgundy and Georgia just completely dropped off the face of the Earth, never to be seen again.
