I typed this up last Sat, but am only posting it now:
The next one I tried was Captain Morgan Coconut Rum. This was not good. I did not taste any coconut, just alcohol. Adding it to water just tasted funny, and still no coconut taste. I could come up with a ton of quips for this, but I'll just stick with one: for this, the captain should be demoted to swabbing the deck. I still have more to try, so stay tuned.

Hello again. This time, last Wed, I did a mini run of 4 of the 6 pawn shops north of the river. This was after work, so I was in a bit of a hurry. I didn't play with any guitars, partially due to being rushed, and also, I forgot my pick. At the first place, most of the guitars were still there, and there wasn't anything really new to mention. The Bass Station was gone, but there was some Casiaha, and some higher-level Yamaha kb. There weren't any amps worth mentioning. For fx, there was a BOSS Bass Enhancer pedal, and another pedal that was yellow, but I can't remember what it was, though I think it may have also been from BOSS. I had one other thing to mention. When I was walking out, this older fuck pulled into the spot right next to me so close that I couldn't open the door far enough to get in. I was right next to my car, so he knew I was going to leave. I had to get in through the passenger side. As I was pulling out, he got in his car. I sat there for a minute so that he couldn't leave. The next place was the pawn shop in Riverside. The first thing was that you had to be buzzed in now. There were no kb, and no fx(or just a few). I didn't see any interesting amps, unless one of the big Peavey ones was there from previously. It seemed a lot of the same guitars were still there, including a few Squires I didn't check out for that reason. There were 2 new LP copies from a company called Effin Guitars for $249. This brand is apparently distributed by a music store called Butler Music, which in a town south of here. I read somewhere that they are rebadged Stagg guitars, which are a cheap line that get a full spectrum of reviews, so buyer beware/try before you buy. The next place was the tornado pawn shop. Again, a lot of the guitars(behind the counter) were still there, including the $1900 snakeskin Charvel. There was a green hollwbody by Aria for $499, that might have been one of these: www.gbase.com/gear/aria-diamond-1960-green-burst There was also some kind of (semi-)hollowbody by Paul Reed Smith for $3199. On the floor underneath the guitars was some Marshall amp head. I didn't catch the model number, but it looked like a Plexi reissue. One of the guys working there said it was a limited edition, with only 300 being made, and they wanted over $2k for it. I don't recall any interesting guitars of note, except I think one of the neon-colored superstrats was still there. The only fx I remembered was a Line6 DL4. I can't remember if there were any kbs. The only I amp I remember was a big Peavey. I don't know if I mistakenly got confused and also placed it at the previous place. I did pass the Guitar Syndicate, but did not stop by. The final place was the pawn/jewelry shop. The counter and wall where the guitars used to be is now more guns, in addition to the original gun counter. At this counter, there were a bunch of new guns from a company called Cobra. They were under $200, so I'd be wary. I walked to the other end of the pawn area and found the guitars. They were behind the counter. I think I saw a Yamaha there from a previous visit. There was some pink guitar with some pattern that I assumed was some Hannah Montana crap. I think there was an Epiphone LP there too. For amps, there was one I didn't recognize, but I wanted to go home, so didn't check it out. I am planning on making trips the 24th and 31st, so look out for those.

The next booze I tried was the plain Kahlua. The bottle says "rum and coffee liqueur". It does have a coffee taste. The alcohol taste is very present, but it is neither annoying nor burning. I am not a coffee person, but I liked this. I have a bunch of other flavors of K to try, but up next will be a coffee-based booze made locally.
In food news, I'm planning on getting takeout Wed, Th, and Sat, so stay tuned for those also.

Well, this Christmas weekend for me has been filled with food and drink to review, but let's first start with a trip. I didn't play anything, even though I had my pick with me. Thursday at work, we had a half-day, so I decided to go to some of the places I was planning to on the 31st. When checking Google Maps for the right street to exit on for one pawn shop, I saw there were 2 others in the area. Since I was already going to call places to make sure they were open, I called these also. The one was a little bit out of the way was closed for Xmas. First I went to the "new" place that was open. It is actually on the way to the one I was originally planning on going to. It was the same size and configuration of the one I went to where the fucker parked too close to me. Be hind the counter was an LTD, a Gibson SG, and a custom guitar from a local builder named Oscar Cross, whom I've never heard of, and neither has Google. On the main wall was a Chinese Squire, a Washburn guitar, a jazz guitar by a company called Stellar, and a bolt-neck LP by a brand called Lady Luck. On the floor was a Yamaha Motif ES7, and that was sitting in front of a Fender amp and a Laney acoustic amp which I think was a GC80A. Then I went to the other one, I forgot to check on the map where it exactly was, so I went way past it. I saw that there are 2 thrift stores over there, but I didn't want to visit them. I first went over to the gun counter. There was a .22 rifle with a long magazine. There was a FN FAL. There were 3 double-barrel shotguns with short barrels that were expensive, and a coach gun for $400. I then went over to the counter that has fx, and the $$$$ guitars behind it. There were 2 Gibson LP's, a Gibson ES-335 or 330, a PRS, and an Ibanez Joe Satriani chrome. There was also a wood finish guitar that I couldn't tell who made it. I think there were also 1 or 2 Schecters. I just remembered there was also 2 Fender Strats(don't know build country) and a Musicman Stingray bass.
In the case itself, the only interesting thing was a Korg PME 40X. This was a modular effects system where you had a master box that you put 4 different modules into. I read there was a selection of 14 different modules. 2 of the modules were the Octave V and the Waveshaper. The Waveshaper apparently looked more interesting than it actually was. I think the other 2 modules were some kind of distortion and either a flanger or phaser. For a huge pawn shop, they don't have many keyboards. All they had was some Casiaha, and a controller kb. Next I went over to the shelves where they have heads and small combos. There were so many there that I forgot a few. In this area also was a Crate halfstack and a Marshall JCM 2000 halfstack. The Randall was still there, as was the Carvin. There was another Randall combo, a Laney combo, and a Marshall G50 series combo. There was a Mesa Dual Rectifier for $999. There was also a Marshall MS-4ZW Zakk Wylde Edition Microstack for $54, which is too much for a used one. Finally I went over to the wall where there were guitars you can play. There was a fuckton of them; more than many music stores even. There were so many that I didn't even feel like trying to remember any. At the bottom of this wall was larger combo amps. There was a Kustom that a guy playing an acoustic guitar was using as a footrest(don't get me started on this). Right next to it was a large silverface Fender(maybe a Twin) that may have been there before. There was a Peavey Austin 400 and a Randall bass amp. There was a Lab L5 that I think was $389. There was a Mesa/Boogie that 44 in it's model name; prob a Rocket 44.
Then I went to the pawnshop in Grandview that was closed last year went I visited on Dec 26.
There was a Peavey combo whose model name started with "Chorus", but I don't remember what the number was in the model name. There was a shelf rack full of strat copies. It also had a Chinese Squire. On the floor was some kind of Washburn. On the wall was 3 LP copies: an Epiphone, a model from Keith Urban's guitar line, and a model I forgot the name of, but wasn't a known brand. There was a Peavey T-15. I didn't ask the price since I figured they'd want too much for it. Right next to it was an Ibanez Talman. The guy said it was an old guitar. They were made between 1994 and 1998. In the guitar universe, you wouldn't consider those old guitars, so I don't know if the guy thought he could convince me it was older than it was, or just doesn't know much about guitars. Then I went over to the 2 pawn shops in the middle of the hood. The first place is large, but there is a lot of open space. I first went over to the gun counter. The only interesting things there were one of those semi-auto shotguns with a magazine(prob a Saiga-12) and something that looked like a MAC-10 with a silencer. I then went over to a wall with some guitars, and there was a Dean Dime with b&w cammo. I then went over to the amps. The only interesting one was a Peavey 5150 combo. I then went over to where most of the guitars were. They weren't on the wall; they are on, what is apparently in the industry known as, slatwall gondolas. Think something like this www.machine--tools.com/By-Type-/Mill-/Custom-made-store-shelving-gondolas-and-cash-wrap-img-3.jpg but with guitar hangers instead of shelves. As for the guitars, there were 2 Chinese Squires. There were 3 Washburn guitars: a superstrat, a general model, and what I think is a WV40. There was also a BC Rich Bronze Series Mockingbird. On the keyboard shelves, besides the regular Casiaha fare, there was an Alesis QS7, and Yamaha MM6 and MM8. I then went to the nearby Cash America. Most of the guitars looked kind of scuzzy. There was a Korean Squire II there that I want to say was $129 bucks. They had a few Casihas, including a Yamaha PSS120, that I think they wanted $29 for, which is too much. There was a Roland XP-80 for $499. There was also a Williams digital piano. I don't think I've heard of that brand. Finally I went to the Cash America at the edge of the hood. When I first came in, there was a Yamaha MM8 with some controller kb sitting on top of it. That is a no-no, because you risk damaging buttons, knobs, display, etc. On the shelves where the keyboards normally are, there was a buttload of Casiahas. But on the bottom shelf, there was a Casio Privia digital piano. I do not know why it is on the bottom shelf. It should be higher up so 1. it doesn't get damaged, 2. It is a higher priced item, so you want people to see it, 3. it is a bit heavy, so it would be easier to move if it is higher up. Opposite of these shelves is the guitar wall, with amps on the floor. The Marshall and Gibson cabs are still there, as is the Tubeworks combo. This time there was an old Randall combo. As for guitars, there were 3 Washburn superstrats, 2 Epi LP's, and an Epi ES-335 or Casino. There was also a really odd guitar. It had a LP body, but the neck looked it was from a strat. The name on the headstock was Global. This company did make strat copies. I'm thinking someone took a Global strat neck and attached it to a LP body. I'm assuming the neck and body are bolted together. If it has a neck plate, it might have to company name of the body. If the weather cooperates, I should be going to the other one on the same road on the 31st.

I took my 2nd trip on the 31st. The first place I stopped at was a music store relatively close to work. Right inside the door was a case with used effects pedals, The only one I remember was a BOSS Power Stack. Speaking of pedals, they had a ton of new ones, many of which I've never heard of, including some by Mesa/Boogie. I don't get mail-order catalogs anymore, so I don't know what's out there. I don't know if they have used guitars and I didn't ask. They have stuff from Ibanez, PRS's CE line, Fender, and Charvel(owned by Fender). Speaking of the last 2, the star guitars and "retro" guitars were there. I then looked into the $$$$ room. There were guitars from PRS and Fender. There was a Peavey tweed amp. There were amps from Fender, Vox, and Mesa/Boogie, including a halfstack from the Rectifier series. Finally I went into the keyboard room. There wasn't much to discuss here. They had 2 different models from Casio's WX series. They had a Casio Privia PX-150, but the placard on it was for the PX-350. I did play on this a bit. I was a pain to switch instruments on this. I was going to do a shitty attempt at the Tony Banks two-handed method(used on the intro for The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis), but forgot. BTW, I think that was method was originally used on the trolley music for Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. I then went over to where the Roland and Korg synths I played on last time were, but did not play on them. Next to them were a Roland FA06 and FA08. I messed with the '6. The bank of presets it was on had the "gee-whiz" shit that I hate. After messing with menus, I found that that bank had more straight-forward stuff in the lower numbers. The presets had names like "JP8 STR", indicating it was supposed to be like a string setting from a Roland Jupiter 8, and "OB STR", simulating string sounds from Oberheim synths. I did have one complaint in that the group of Oberheim string settings didn't have any name with something like "VH" or "JUMP" in them to indicate a setting simulating the synth sound from Jump by Van Halen, which is pretty much a requisite if you're going to have Oberheim sounds(and maybe Rush's Tom Sawyer). Then again, I didn't go through too many sounds. I stopped at one preset and tried to do Mama by Genesis. I then stopped at the Raytown Cash America. First I looked in the case with the effects, but don't remember anything. I then went over to the guitars. There was an Ibanez EX series bass, and a Lakland bass. There were 2 Chinese Squires and an Indonesian one. There was an Epi LP from the Goth series. There were 2 Ibane RG series, one a 7-string. There was an LTD explorer, and LTD H-1000, which I think was a Deluxe model. There was also a Fernandes Vertigo. For kb, there were 2 Casiahas. There were also 2 Korg Tritons, at least one an le model. They might have been there before. For amps, the only thing worth mentioning was a Carvin amp for $199 that was missing all bu 1 or 2 knobs. I then passed by the easy to miss and next to the gun shop pawn shop, and didn't go out of my way to go the hole in the wall pawn shop. My next stop was a 2nd Cash America.
There were quite a few guitars behind the counter. There were 2 Jacksons: an hss for $400 and an hh for $499. There was a Moridira Hurricane, which is a strat-style guitar for $350. There was a Godin bass which I think was a 6-string. There was a Godin guitar with a chrome top, and what I think was a Harley Davidson badge for $99. It was back there so it wouldn't get dinged up or dirty. In the $$$$ category was a 2005 Gibson Les Paul Custom for $4999. The knobs and paint job made it look like it was from the 70's. In the main area, there were a bunch of strat copies. There were 2 Chinese Squires, an Indonesian Squire, and an Indonesian Starcaster. For amps, there was an SWR bass amp, a Peavey Basic 60, and a Randall amp with a metal grille. I don't know if the grille was original or not, so I couldn't tell how old the amp was. All those kb that were there before were gone; all they had was 2 controllers. Also gone was the BOSS TM-7.
Next was the crazy pawn shop. For amps, they had a Peavey Rage 158 for $49. There was a Fender FM100H halfstack. There was also a Carvin Vai Legacy II combo that is prob the same one from the last time. For guitars, there was a Washburn superstrat. They had 2 7-strings, one from Cort, and a Dean Vendetta. There was also a Dean guitar that looked a bit like a LP, but it wasn't a Cadillac model(I don't know how they didn't get sued by GM for trademark infringement). There was also an Ibanez LP-ish guitar that had an odd finish. The color was reddish-brown, and it looked like leatherfied skin with ridges from veins and such. In the gun dept, there was what looked like an FN FAL. They also had a .22 Calico M100. It looks like this: www.imfdb.org/images/thumb/3/30/CalicoM100.jpg/500px-CalicoM100.jpg
I'll finish up my trip next time.

Finally I visited the other Cash America on the same road as the one on the edge of the 'hood. Behind the counter was a hardtail Michael Kelly superstrat. There was also a Dean Dimebag Razorback. In the main area, there was a Chinese Squire and a Dean V. There were more guitars, but apparently nothing of interest, or stuff I've seen before. There were a bunch of Casiahas, but there was also a Roland RS-5 for $329. There was a tiny Randall amp with a metal grille. There were 2 Peavey blue trim amps where I remembered the number part of the model name, but not the word part. One had 75 in the name; the word part might have been Bandit. The other was 112; and the word part might have been Bravo. There were 2 Marshalls from the Valvestate series. One was a 15R, the other was a 20(the actual model number is 8020).

I finally get to start on the food.
The Wed before Xmas, I went to Wendy's and Arby's. At Wendy's, I got 2 things. First was a Spicy Chicken Go Wrap. I don't remember how spicy it was, but it was good. I thought the price:size ratio was a bit off though. The other item was a Gouda Bacon Cheeseburger. I can't remember if I tasted the bacon, and I don't think I tasted the cheese. It was good though. It would be more cost-effective to get a regular hamburger/cheeseburger. At Arby's, I got 2 orders of onion rings, which were good as always. I also got the Steak Fajita Flatbread and the Firey Steak Fajita Flatbread. They were both good. The Firey version had a bit of spice, but wasn't hot. I only waited about an hour to eat(to watch TMZ), so my food wasn't cold. There were 2 things of note. First, the ads show that these have cheese. Mine didn't look like they did, unless it was under the other stuff. Maybe you have to ask for it(for an extra charge). It is colby cheese, which I'm not really a fan of, so no big loss. The other item was that they are similar to the gyros that Arby's had a while back. See you with more next time!

Ok, I'm back. Posting was a pain last Fri, but I won't go into that, so back to the food. On Christmas Eve, I did an other do-over. This time it was the Indian food. When I got there, I opened the bag and made sure I got all my items. The fist item was Chicken Biriyani, spicy of course. It was good, but didn't seem very spicy. I didn't eat it right away, but did leave it in the bag with the other items, so it was warmer than room temp. The second item was Mulligatwany Soup, spicy also. It was good, and did seem spicy. It seemed there were less veggie(and meat?) chunks than last time. The third item, which they forgot last time, was Paneer Pakora. This wasn't so good, due to me not eating it right away. Maybe I should have popped this in the microwave before I ate. When I was waiting at the place, the guy gave me a piece of Vegetable Pakora. I didn't eat it then, but waited until I had the rest of my stuff. It was good. As for condiments, I got three things. I got the container of white liquid again, so I guess I should assume it was to be used with the CB. I was dipping forkfuls of it in the liquid, but I dumped the liquid on the CB then there was just a little left. I also tried it with the PP and the VP(this was big, so I could break it up into smaller pieces). I cant remember what the liquid tasted like, but it looked like the liquid you find at the bottom of a container of coleslaw. The second item was hari chutney. This did have some spiciness to it and was good. I tried with the three items I mentioned previously. The third item was a brown liquid. I don't know if it was tamarind chutney, because it didn't taste sweet. It might have had a bit of spiciness, but I can't remember. I also tried it with the 3 items, and I guess it was ok, since I do remember not having a negative impression of it. I also got the dough ball with honey. I put that in the 'fridge for the next day. It was good. I'll get to the beverages from there next time.

And I'm back again! So now for the beverages from the Indian restaurant. When I was waiting, the girl gave me a teacup of chai tea to drink. It was good. I asked the girl what they put in it, and she said milk and sugar. They gave me a cup of it that I drank on the way home. The only thing I wish is that it wasn't so hot. In the bag, there was a cup of mango lassi. I put that in the 'fridge when I got home. I drank it the next day, and it was good. The styrofoam cup did a good job of keeping it cold. I left it in the fridge after I was finished drinking it, and there was still ice in the cup on Dec 26. On Christmas day, I had some deli coldcuts I bought the day before. I also had an eggplant, which is why I'm mentioning this meal. I cut the eggplant into horizontal slices. I didn't put them between towels this time. Also this time, I fried it with vegetable oil instead of baking it in the oven. I got the idea from watching Cook's Country/America's Test Kitchen. They baked theirs so it wouldn't get soggy and real soft from absorbing oil, but that is what I wanted. When I put them in the oil, they seemed to soak it up, but then I think they would expel it back out. This was a fuck of a lot faster than baking it. The eggplant was good, but it was a bit oily. Not wanting to be wasteful, I poured the oil in the pan(I don't think it was that much) over the eggplant since I wasn't going to be frying anything else. The day after Christmas I went over to Papa John's and asked if they were still doing the large Ultimate Meats pizza for $12 deal. They said they weren't. Later that night, I got the extra-large 2 toppings for $10 deal that they still had going. My toppings were peperoni and sausage. Unfortunately, the pizza wasn't that great. I think the problem was that I couldn't taste the meat. I think if I get another one from there, I'm going to try veggies and mushrooms. Pizza Hut is doing a 2 for $5 each menu(like Dominos), so I'll probably do that next time. Jan 5th, I went to Subway and got 3 sandwiches. I think I pretty much burned myself out on those, because they didn't taste that good to me. I think I'll wait until there is something new I want to try, or they have a discount promotion on some of their sandwiches.
Yesterday, I went to Arby's and Burger King and got some food.
Before I say anything else, I do have something to mention. Last night, for some reason, my sense of taste seemed to be gone, or at best not working right. At Burger King, they have a deal where you can get a 2 Chicken Burgers(a new item, I think) for $5, so I got that. Here is an article about it with a description and pic: www.houstonchronicle.com/entertainment/restaurants-bars/article/Burger-King-doesn-t-chicken-out-from-new-burger-6754308.php Like I said above, my sense of taste seemed to be not working. The best I could taste was the veggie stuff; I don’t seem to recall tasting the meat. I can’t give a good or bad rating for these. I did have a problem when ordering. I told the girl what I wanted, and somehow didn't understand. I pointed at the big picture for the outside. When she was putting my stuff in the bag, I could tell it wasn't what I wanted. It was 2 regular chicken sandwiches(they might have been on that pic also, and may be in a 2 for $5 promotion also). I told the girl my order was wrong. She went in the back. She then came back, and the manager was there. I told her what I wanted, and she told the people in the back. I got my stuff a bit later. She chastised the girl for goofing things up. The manager had took the bag with the wrong sandwiches and threw it in a bucket labeled something like "fry and onion ring waste". I thought she would have at least taken in the back for her or her co-workers to snack on. At Arby's, I got 2 orders of onion rings, which were good yet again. They were the only things I could really taste. They are doing a 2 for $5 promotion also, where there are 3 different sandwiches(beef and cheese, plain beef, fish) and some bacon cheese curly fries to choose from. I got 2 fish. I've had them before, and were good. Again, I couldn’t really taster correctly. With these sandwiches, I think I was tasting the bun. I’ll just defer to my previous experiences and give them a thumbs up. When I was checking the website about the sandwiches, I saw there was a flatbread fish sandwich. Before I placed my order, I was thinking of asking if they would substitute a flat bread fish sandwich for a regular one. I decided not to. After I got my stuff, I asked the girl how long they were going to have the flatbread fish sandwich. She said until Lent. She also said it was on the 2 for $5 menu, but she forgot to tell me. D'oh! I guess I should have asked. Oh well; the sandwiches are good, so I'll probably go back. Hopefully the Arby's I use after work has the flatbread fish and has it in the 2 for $5 menu. And coincidentally enough, there is a BK across the street, so I might do a total do-over.
I guess since I’m here, I’ll also review something else.
Recently, Lay’s did that thing where they came out with 4 new flavors. I had my mom get 3 of them. I didn’t want the Southern Biscuits and Gravy flavor since I’ve never had the real thing since it doesn’t appeal to me. They did something different this time. Previously, the new flavors all came on the regular type chip. This time, they also used the other styles: Kettle Cooked and Wavy. On Jan 2, I had the West Coast Truffle Fries. They were the Wavy type. While they weren’t bad, to me they tasted like sour cream and onion. I don’t know if these are still in stores since they’re not on the website. I wouldn’t go out of my way or pay extra for them.
Tonight I’m planning on having one of the other two. I’ll review that next time.
Also next time I’ll finally get to the booze.

Today there is some snow on the road, so everyone is going slow.
Last Wed, I tried the second of the new lay's Flavors. It was the Greektown Gyro. It is the Kettle Cooked variety. I don't know how the hell it is supposed to taste like a gyro. I've had gyros from the one gas station, and the Arby's variety, and the chips didn't taste like those. I guess they were ok, but again, I wouldn't go out of my way to get them or pay extra.
I think I'll try the last one in 2 weeks.

Finally, it's time to do some booze reviews again. I had 2 items over the Xmas break. The first one is called Dizzy Three and is from a local coffee company called The Roasterie. They are famous for having an old DC-3 airplane attached to their roof. I actually saw it when I was taking my Dec 24 pawn trip. The beverage is described as "air-roasted espresso flavored vodka". The bottle also said something like "best served ice cold", so I put it in the fridge. I waited until this holiday time, since my parents were gone, since I didn't want them messing with it. There was also another reason I found out about, which I'll get to in a sec. As for the taste, it wasn't that great. I didn't really have any coffee taste, and was mostly more alcohol taste/burn. When the bottle was almost empty, I dumped the rest of it in a glass of eggnog. Fortunately it didn't mess up the taste of the eggnog. Eggnog seems to be a good dumping ground for shitty tasting booze, as long you don't add to much to the 'nog. I had 2 physical complaints. The first was that the mini bottle is glass, creating a risk of breakage. This is a minor complaint though. The second complaint is major. While the bottle itself had screw-on threads, the cap did not! That means the cap just sat on top of the bottle. If my parents were home, there was a good chance of them knocking it over and spilling it. The second item was Martini &n Rossi Prosecco extra-dry champagne from Italy. The bottle came with the top covered in foil. When I removed that, I saw there was a screw-on cap(that worked) that was in the shape of a cork with wires. I know somewhere out there some wine-snobs are gasping in disgust. As for the taste, the first sip tasted bad. I left the cap off, but covered, to let it breathe, whatever that means. It seemed the taste was better upon latter sips. But the last one or two actually tasted like beer. If you don't know, the term "extra-dry" means it is not sweet at all. In the same bin, they had the M&R Rose'. This is apparently sweet. I did not get it since I didn't know it was champagne. Another item of note is that technically, it is not champagne. Actual champagne is made a specific way with a specific grape in a specific area of France. All other of the bubblies are actually called "sparkling wine". I don't like this term since it sounds too.... I think a better term would be shampagne, or the first part of the word be place of origin e.g. Ampagne from the US. Italpagne from Italy, etc. I'll be opening up another bottle soon. I kind of gave a hint at what kind a while back. Review to come, of course.

Last Wed had me doing a kind of redo. This time I had my sense of taste back. I went to the Burger King that's right on my way home, but I didn't go to Arby's right across the street. I'll get to that in a bit. At Burger King, I got the Chicken Burgers. These were good. Sometimes I was able to taste some of the grill marks on the chicken patty, which gave it a beefy flavor, which was a positive. I would like to see how this would be as a basic burger. Since chicken is cheaper than beef, it shouldn't cost that much. At Arby's, I wanted to get the Flatbread Fish Sandwiches. Thankfully, I had the presence of mind to call ahead. The one across the street from BK did not include them in the 2 for $5 menu. I called another one in the area, and they said they were, so I went there. When I looked on the map, it wasn't where I thought it was. It was much closer on the same street. I never really paid attention to that area when driving past, so I don't know how long it's been there. I should have asked if they used to be in a location further up the street. As for the sandwiches, they were good. I think I like them better than the regular ones. Oh yeah, I got 2 orders of onion rings, which were again good. I do have something else to mention. I recalled having waffle fries from Arby's once and liking them a lot. I went to the website to make sure that is where I got them from(I thought it might have been Hardee's instead). They had the curly fries, onion rings, and other sides listed, but no waffle fries. When I got there, I was having some anxiety, so I just wanted to order my stuff and leave. After I paid for my order, I saw on the counter menu mat and the overhead menu that they did have waffle fries. If I had just stopped to catch my breath, I could have checked out the menu and saw they had the waffle fries. In that case, I would have gotten an order of those and an order of curly fries. I have to remember next time to get those instead.
I was planning on trying the third and final Lay's flavor tomorrow night, but I seem to be sick with something today, and don't know if I'll feel like having them tomorrow. Also, I don't know if my sense of taste will be offline again. I guess I'll get to them when I get to them.
Also expect another booze review in the near future.

Last Wed(2/10), I had the third and final Lay's flavor. It was the New York Reuben. These are the regular style. There was a rye flavor. I think there was also sauerkraut. I don't recall tasting corned beef, cheese, or dressing. These are ok, but I wouldn't pay extra for them or go out of my way to get them. I prefer the real thing. The day before, I went to Subway. Since ingredient prices have gone up, they aren't doing the $5 Footlong thing anymore. For most of this month, they have dropped prices to $6. I got 3 sandwiches. They were all n white bread and had provolone cheese and parmesan cheese. They still do the flatbread pizzas at the one I went to, so they have mozzarella cheese, which I would have had instead of provolone. First up is the seafood sandwich. This is some kind of fish mixed with mayo. This is exclusive to this particular place. It was good. With the other 2, I also had oil on them. The first was the bacon and egg. It was good. The second was the steak and egg. It was better. I don't kow if the meat is actually steak, or just roast beef cooked well-done so there is no red. Either way, it's good. By the time I post this, I will have bought some more Subway sandwiches and will review them when I get a chance. In the booze category, I had the Hazelnut variety of Kahlua. I don't know what hazelnut is supposed to taste like, so I couldn't tell if I could taste it. All I know is that it tasted more alcoholish and less coffee-ish than the regular Kahlua. I would give this one a thumbs-down. I will be trying another Kahlua flavor next. I have 3 more of them. Review to follow, of course.

On Tues 2/16, I went back to Subway and got 3 more sandwiches. They were all footlongs on white bread, and had mozzarella and parmesan cheese. The first was called something like Piziola. The meat is peperoni and chicken chunks. They also put tomato sauce on it. I also had oregano on it. I might have had them put some oil on the cheese. While it was good, I don't think I'd have it again. I think this sandwich is featured at this place because they also do the flatbread pizzas, thus have tomato sauce. The second sandwich was the veggie patty. This is the vegetarian option besides the regular veggie sub. I had them put oil on it. It wasn't that great. I can't really describe what the actual veggie patty tasted like. It would probably be better with veggies and other condiments. The third was the seafood one again. It was good again. I will either post this on Tues or Wed, so I will have gotten another 3 sandwiches, which I will review. I think you already know what one of them will be. Getting a bit off topic, it sucks that Subway didn't start the $6 Feb deal until Thur 2/4. If they had started it on 2/1, I would have had an extra Tuesday to get subs. As it is, 2/23 will be my last day of Subway. I have not gotten around to opening a new bottle of booze, which is just as well, since I have been taken ibuprofen because my Achilles tendon has been bothering me.

Howdy y'all!
Feb 23 was the last Tue of the $6 footlongs at Subway. I got 3. All were on white bread and had mozzarella cheese and some parmesan cheese. The first was the tuna salad. It was good. I wouldn't want to have it a lot though, unless I had it with various veggies and condiments. The next was the steak and egg. That was good, like it was before. The last was the seafood sub. It was good. When I was eating it though, I kind of felt like I wanted to stop. I thought it was burnout, but I felt better when I pulled the waistband of my pants below my belly. If Subway gets a lot of people in, they might start doing the sub of the month promotion again. It wouldn't be $5, but it would probably be $6. At the one I usually visit, they have like 3 footlongs priced at $5.50. If they were to use that price, they can slightly modify their jingle; "five-fifty footlongs" instead of "five-dollar footlongs". It almost seems to roll off the tongue a bit better than the original. Before I came here, I picked something else up that I will review. In other news, I did open a new bottle of booze, so a review will come in the future. Also, I should be having a vacation in a few weeks. I'm planning on doing one of my annual trips. I will also be getting food(and maybe drink) which I will review.
