did they ever show the episode with brock's mom in america? from what i heard on the web in the english dub they said she died.

Yeah, it was in an episode of Pokémon Chronicles.
They did originally kill her off back in like the 5 episode, but completely ignored that little plot hole.

In the Japanese version Brock's mum just left her family, apparently 4kids didn't like the idea of Brock having two abandoning parents and so they had her be killed off. They had no idea that change would end up biting them back in the form of a plot hole, however 4kids didn't even bother to cover it up in Chronicles.

tbf trying to explain it would have probably resulted in an absolute mess, ignoring it was probably the smart option (especially as newer viewers wouldn't even realise it was a problem).
Also, Lola's pretty fine for a woman who's popped out about 19 sprogs.
