Posting this news here, because he was part of the video game industry after all- Sad news has appeared from Nintendo today, a big upset for all Nintendo fans:

I was actually considering making a thread for him in the main board, considering his relative importance to Pokémon itself.

Also, I was trying to look for a recount of that story of him compressing Gold and Silver to include Kanto, and effectively saving the series.

Just going to quote someone on another forum, the great things Iwata has done for games (also more news in relation to his death)-

This is the guy who let Sakurai go ahead with his "Smash" project.

This is the guy who compressed Pokemon GSC in such an efficient way that there was space for a whole other game on the cartridge.

This is the guy who programmed Pokemon Stadium in like two weeks as just an idea.

This is the guy who somehow got Earthbound to work.

I put it here because it's not just Pokémon he had importance to, it was every Nintendo game. He was the president of Nintendo after all.
