Well today’s episode starts off with a recap of the destruction of Lumiose City caused by Z2 Zygarde, Team Flare, and of course the mastermind of it all Lysandre.
While Serena, Clmeont, and Bonnie were on their way towards Prism Tower, Ash had already been captured by Team Flare and was being taken there. Not only that but Ash makes a startling discovery about Alan; he’s working for Team Flare and he allowed Ash to be caught and taken prisoner as well!
Alan, you have no idea of the hole you just dug for yourself.
Squishy, who has seen enough destruction of the city, transforms into it’s 50% form and confronts the mind controlled Z2 ready to put a stop to all of this madness.
“Wow Squishy, is Zygarde” Ash says in astonishment while Alan looks on in horror and Lysandre looks on with a smug look on his face.
Like all villains who starts to get a smug and superior look on their faces, Lysandre begins to go into a little monologue about his evil ambitions and what he plans to do with the legendary Pokemon.
“Yes Zygarde is the legendary Pokemon who watches over the world and punishes those who dare to disrupt it’s order. You are witnessing the range of Zygarde as well as Team Flare, this world will start over again. Soon enough the other Zygarde will come around to our way of thinking, and then it will turn red with rage.”
“No you’re wrong! Squishy would never think like that!” Ash screams out to the Flare Boss.
“Pika! Pika!” Pikachu adds.
“Alan what’s going on with all this? Say something!”
Alan is pretty much speechless at the moment, due to his role in the plot, so it’s safe to say the guilt is really piling up on him right about now.
Elsewhere Team Rocket is covering the destruction high in the air from the news copter as the two Zygards begin to fight it out.
While on the ground level Serena, Clemont, Bonnie, Blazikenmask, Clembot, and their Pokemon all watch on as Squishy battles the mind controlled Z2.
“Stop getting distracted!”Bryony yells out... Where was she back when Ash was taking his sweet time in Johto?
“ Druddigon use Dark Pulse!” Aliana orders her Dragon as it fires a beam of dark energy at the twerps.
Before the beam could make contact with them they are saved by the timely intervention of MegaGarchomp! Who looks ready to throw down with the two Flare agents.
“That was a close one.” Sycamore says as he and Mairin shows up to lend a hand much to the twerps relief.
The two of them then turns their attention over towards the battling Zygards who are duking it out not to far away from them.
“That is enough, now wake up!” Squishy orders Z2 as it tries to get it to come to it’s senses.
Holy shit on a shit sandwich, things are just going from bad to worse here. It’s only going to get even more worse from here on out because everything is....
Coming apart at the Dreams!
Squishy is still trying to reach Z2 but sadly it’s pleas seems to have fallen on deaf ears, because Z2 is hearing none of it and attacks Squishy.
Meanwhile both Bryony and Aliana comment that battling megaevolved Pokemon does make things more challenging for them.
“Liepard use Shadow Claw!” Bryony orders.
“Blaziken use Blaze Kick!” Blazikenmask orders.
MegaBlaziken then proceeds to cancel out Liepard’s attack and sends back towards Bryony.
Clemont then throws out Bunnelby and Chespin to give them a hand, then Clembot sends in Heliolisk to join in the fight.
It just warms my heart to see a superhero father, his inventor of a son, and his son’s robotic creation all fighting side by side for a family rumble.
Clemont orders Luxray to use Wild Charge, while Aliana and Bryony both order their Pokemon to dodge the attack. Then Clemont follows it up by having Chespin use Pin Missile, and Clembot tells Heliolisk to use Dragon Tail.
The two Pokemon starts to dodge all of the incoming attacks heading their way, and then Bryony orders another Dark Pulse from Liepard. Clemont quickly counters it by telling Bunnelby to use Mud shot; Blazikenmask orders a Flamethrower, but Aliana orders Druddigon to doge it and use Dragon Claw which MegaBlaziken jumps out of the way of.
While the battle is going Mairin asks Serena if she’s seen Alan and Ash? Since they said that they were going to Prism Tower. Serena tells her that she hasn’t seen them yet and that causes Mairin to worry that something bad might have happened to them.
Well let’s just say that ‘bad’ is a understatement right about now.
But Serena assures her that they’re both strong and that she shouldn’t worry about them, but this causes Mairin to tear up because she’s still so worried about Chespie too.
Then Serena flashes back to when Mairin told them that Chespie has been asleep for a long time now, and that it’s resting at ‘Lysandre Labs’ which she says is awesome.
Oh the sad, sad, sad irony of that last part.
Serena also remembered that she told Mairin that she and her friends will help if there is anything they can do to help.
Which brings us back to the present.
Serena reminds her that Chespie is at ‘Lysandre Labs’ which Mairin confirms, she turns to Clemont who already knows what Serena is planning on doing.
“Of course you should go, don’t worry we can handle everything around here, take care of Mairin and Chespie.” He assures her.
Serena gives him her thanks, and along with Professor who offers to offers to give them a ride in his car. Before they could make a move a stream of Dark Pulse blasted right between them.
“I don’t know what you’re up to but we will not be ignored! Liepard Shadow Claw!” Bryony Shouts as her Liepard leaps towards them.
Then just as Liepard prepares the attack it suddenly gets hit with a Mud Shot.
“Alright lets go!” Clemont states keeping the two Flare agents attention on him.
Serena thanks him, while Sycamore recalls Mega Garchomp and the three of them head off to Lysandre Labs.
Hiding behind the vines are Team Rocket who overheard everything and figured that must be Team Flare’s headquarters.
Back at Prism Tower...
You know something about this just seems so familiar for some reason, I don’t know but it feels like something out of a book.
Anyway Lysandre his giving his thanks to Alan for collecting all of that mega evolution energy for him, which in turn gave Team Flare the power to control Zygarde.
Yeah, Alan is not too pleased to hear that...
We are now treated to a little flashback of Alan’s battles that took place during the ‘Mega Evolution Acts’ and his gym battle with Korrina.
“The Mega evolution energy you gathered is proving to be quite useful in destroying this imperfect world. Just look there is no tomorrow for this world, When the sun rises next it will be brand new. How beautiful the end of this world is, we truly taken the first step towards peace.”
After hearing all of this Alan simply drops to his knees a looks at the destruction he unknowingly helped caused.
Dude, you done fucked up big time.
“Alan...” Ash says feeling sympathy for him.
Now here is where I have to give credit to Alan’s voice actor who does a damn good job with the grief and guilt scene here.
“Mairin... Chespin... is this the reason I had all those battles? ALL OF THEM FOR THIS?!” He screams out as he pounds the pavement in frustration.
“You see Chespie been asleep for quite a while, it won’t wake up.”
“That’s it, that’s why Alan did this.” Ash says as he realizes that the reason that Alan was helping Lysandre was because he wanted Chespie to wake up for Mairin.
“For Chespie’s sake, for Mairin’s sake too; Your whish had pure intent, a truly noble wish indeed.” Lysandre smirks with that smug look still on his face.
Translation: The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
Back down on the streets Serena, Mairin, and Sycamore are all running towards his car until they are intercepted by Team Rocket who are still in their reporter outfits.
“Hold on, what are you doing in such a dangerous place?” Jessie asks the trio.
“We have to go to Lysandre Labs, my precious Chespie is there.” Mairin informs them.
“You jest! Why that’s terrible!” James tells them in mild shock.
“So step on da gas.” Meowth adds.
“We happen to be from Lumiose City TV, perfect timing were too? We’ll whisk you there in our news copter.” Jessie tells them as the camera pans over to the news helicopter.
Team Rocket 90% of the time you guys can be real assholes, but when those rare 10% moments comes around, you three manages to find a way to come through in a time of need and this one them.
“That would be a big help.” Sycamore tells them.
“Thanks so much!” Serena and Mairin both say at the same time.
“Thank nothing of it.” Jessie tells them.
“A friend in need is a friend in deed!” Team Rocket all say together.
With that they all take off in the helicopter with James at the control heading straight for Lysandre Labs.
“Blue Yonder here we come!” James says aloud.
“And what are we heading for? Team Flare’s secret base!” Jessie says a little too loudly.
“Wait, what did you say?” Serena asks them.
“I said you have flare and a lucky face.” Jessie says trying the cover her little slip up.
Elsewhere... God damn!
Squashy and Z2 ain’t playing around here!
While from a distance Bonnie is watching this unfold in front of her and she is praying that Squashy is able to get though to Z2.
Judging from the way things are looking I wouldn’t bet too much on that.
Bonnie, who is a little girl standing in the middle of all this destruction, with no parental or adult supervision what so ever, is watching this epic battle unfold in front of her. So what dose she decides to do in this situation? Why run towards them that’s what!
In another part of the City Diantha is busy saving two citizens from getting flatten by one of the vines, then right on cue Sawyer, Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor show offering her their help.
“Champion! Diantha you gotta let us help you please.” Sawyer says to her.
“Sawyer?” Diantha says surprised to see the quartet.
“We can’t just stand by and watch.” States Shauna.
“Yeah we want to help you.” Adds Tierno.
“Please Diantha.” Trevor concludes.
“In that case rescuing children and the elderly comes first. Can you bring them here?” Diantha asks them as takes them up on their offer.
For the record that is damn good idea, because helping save defenseless civilians is just as important as stopping the evil world dominating organization.
All four of them are more than happy to lend a helping hand to the Kalos Champion.
Meanwhile up in the air Team Rocket, Sycamore, and the girls are all flying towards Team Flare Headquarter.
“If we take control.” James sings.
“Of their secret base.” Jessie chimes in.
“Team Rocket is popping the keys to Kalos and then we’ll be running the place!” Meowth concludes.
Back on the streets Squishy is sent crashing into a building by Z2, he gets back up and charges at Z2 who then summons it’s vines to attack the charging Squishy. Squishy manages to dodge each of the incoming vines with such skill and precision until....
Oh shit....
“Heheh hahahah! It won’t be long before you become ours as well.” Xerosic laughs as he watches Squishy’s capture.
Back at the top of the tower.
“So Ash I’m going to use your Bond Phenomenon in service to my new world. You’re able to gain that powerful strength without a Keystone purely through your bond; when I saw that I was thrilled. Ash you have shown me that there are limitless possibilities with Pokemon still and I want that power for myself!” Lysandre declares as two small bots fly up towards Ash.
Then without warning they both fire red energy beams at both Ash and Greninja...
Note: I just want to point out that here in the English Dub when Ash and Greninja are hit with the beam they appear to be in an hypnotic trance, but in the Japanese version it is very clear that they are being tortured by the red energy.
Hold on a second here; Ash is the chosen one to guide people, he was betrayed by an ally (Sorry Alan fans), crucified, and getting tortured while being crucified....
Dodgers it’s official now, ASH KETCHUM IS POKEMON JESUS!
Anyway Alan his looking on in horror of what his happening to the young boy while Lysandre continue on with his monologue.
“The energy from this light is powerful enough to control Zygarde, but now Ash now Graninja I’m also going to use it to control your Bond Phenomenon!”
“No way!” Ash grunts out at him.
“From this point on both of you will answer to me.” Lysandre says assured of his victory.
The rest of Ash’s Pokemon can’t do anything but look on in concern as their trainer and comrade be tortured by wicked Flare boss’s red energy beam.
“Lysandre pleas stop this!” Alan begs him, but it’s very clear he’s not planning on stopping it anytime soon.
Now it is at this moment that Ash decides to take a page out of the good book....
OF GURREN LAGANN!
“THERE’S NO WAY YOU’RE EVER GOING TO CONTROL THE TWO OF US!” Ash shouts out through the pain.
Translation: JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!
“You still don’t understand do you Ash? When the current world becomes a thing of the past you two will become the chosen ones who will guide all of humanity.” Lysandre informs him.
“We’re never going to become any of that! We’re never going to change! Alan, I don’t know what happened to you but you gotta stop all of this now! I don’t care about what you’ve done, I-I believe in the Alan I know!”
Translation: ALAN, BELIEVE IN THE ASH THAT BELIEVES IN YOU! NOW LET ME SEE YOU GRIT THOSE TEETH!
Right now Ash is just channeling both Kamina and Simon.
“I really care about this world; I care about the people and the Pokemon who call this world home and you won’t destroy it no way! BATTLE ME LYSANDRE!” Ash yells out as the Bond Phenomenon begins to transpire.
Translation: I AM GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS! THEN OUR BOND PHENOMENON SHALL PIERCE THE HEAVENS!
Okay that last sentence seemed to have some truth to it...
So with the pillar of water covering them and the strength of their bond, Ash and Greninja are able to break free of their restraints.
Translation: FUCK YOUR MEGA ENERGY, FUCK YOUR MIND CONTROL, AND FUCK YOU LYSANDRE!
With that Both Ash and Greninja slowly and gently float down from the air.
Ash nearly collapses but is caught by Alan who starting to redeem himself a bit; the only thing missing from this is Ash punching some sense into Alan, like what Kamina did for Simon.
“Ash no; are you okay?” Alan asks him with concern.
“Alan.” Ash says getting some strength back.
“Truly brilliant, mega evolution energy can’t stop your bond!” Lysandre cackles evilly at them.
“Because of you my head is clear.” Alan tells him.
“Awesome!” Ash responds back happy to hear that.
“We’ve got to stop this together!” Alan states to Ash.
“Now you’re talking.” Ash says glad that his friend now sees the light.
With that Alan calls out his Charizard to free the rest of Ash’s Pokemon from their restraints with Dragon Claw.
“You ready to do this?” Ash asks as all of them who are eager and ready to throw down with Lysandre.
“Do you honestly think that you can beat me?” Lysandre smirks at them.
“We must, we’re going to prove to you that protecting someone takes real strength, by beating you!” Alan declares to his former colleague.
Soon Lysandre’s smirk quickly changes into a scowl as he looks up at the two trainers.
“Alan you’ve really disappoint me, none of you will be needed in the new world I’m creating.” He states to them.
“Needed or not needed, who are you to make that decision?” Ash yells at him.
What happens next is something I’m sure that a lot of fans of the games are happy to see in the anime.
“I got choice.” Lysandre says as he puts on a pair of visors then a cybernetic pack attaches itself to his back and a gauntlet covers his left hand, which then allows him to float to Ash’s and Alan’s level.
“You will be stopped, and I will do it myself!”
Oh shit the bossman is ready to throw down!
Meanwhile back at the bottom of the tower Clemont and Clembot are still battling it out with both Aliana and Bryony, they order Shadow Claw and Dragon Claw from their Pokemon who leap at the commands of their trainers.
“Heliolisk use Flash!” Clembot orders as the move blind the two Pokemon.
“Luxray use Wild Charge!” Clemont orders.
Luxray smashes into both Liepard and Druddigon with it’s Wild Charge and sends both of them crashing into the tower right behind Aliana and Bryony.
“Chespin Pin Missile, Bunnelby Mud Shot!” Clemont Shouts out without wasting any time.
The two attacks hit both Liepard and Druddigon knocking them out for the count, much to the horror of both Aliana and Bryony who quickly recall them back into their Pokeballs.
Before the two of them can do anything else they are suddenly tied up by some metallic rope courtesy of Clembot who leaves them dangling in the air.
Something tells me that somewhere a fanboy only has one hand on their keyboard right now.
“Targets have been captured.” Clembot informs Clemont.
“Excellent job Clembot!” He congratulates it.
“This is your fault!”
“No this is your fault!”
Aliana and Bryony shouted back at each other as they turned their heads in a huff.
In another part of the city Bonnie runs up to see Squishy struggling to get free from Z2’s vines, suddenly Bonnie drops to her knees sensing the pain that Squishy is in at the moment. She looks towards Prism Tower and watch as Xerosic stands besides the cannon and fires it right at Squishy!
Oh damn things are just going from bad to worse!
Bonnie watches in horror as Squishy is hit with the beam, then before she could do anything else two of the vines begin falling towards her but...
Daddy to the rescue!
“Young lady why were you there all alone?” Blazikenmask asks her like the concerned father that he is, then notices how exhausted she looks.
“I’m scared Squishy’s... Squishy is going to lose.” Bonnie paints out.
She then holds her head in pain screaming out Squishy’s name sensing it’s pain.
“True success! Lysandre the other Zygarde is under our control now.” Xerosic informs his boss through the com link.
“It can’t be!” Ash say in disbelief.
“My world of peace will be created much faster now.” Lysandre says with a mad twisted grin on his face.
“How can you say peace has anything to do with this?” Ash asks the madman.
You guys should already know what’s about to happen next.
“What would you know about peace? You don’t have a clue when it comes to the ugly parts of this world.”
With that we are now treated to flashback to an earlier time, when Lysandre and rest of Team Flare were giving out supplies to the people of destroyed and ruined city.
“There once was a time when I reached out to help people, people who were in need and suffering. They rejoiced, but that didn’t last long; they all began to take my help for granted and expected it like they had some sort of right.”
Not gonna lie, but yeah humans can be selfish bastards from time to time...
“The people only became louder and louder with their demands, and my help only brought about their arrogance. Foolish, arrogant people; it would only be a matter of time before their world would be destroyed by their entitlement. That’s why I’m going to create a new world, a world of peace. It’s time for a new start, to create my utopian dream; but that new dream has no room for you!”
With that Lysandre throws out two Pokeball and out of them comes...
Holy fuck! Did he steal that from Lance?
“Now Gyrados releash your mega evolution energy!” Lysandre yells out as Ash, Alan, and their Pokemon watch as Gayrado mega evolve right in front of them.
If shit wasn’t real before, then it sure as hell is now!
“Respond to heart, Keystone beyond evolution mega evolve!” Alan shouts out as he mega evolves his Charizard.
“Kay lets do this!” Ash shouts out.
Meanwhile Serena, Mairin, Sycamore, and Team Rocket have made it to Lysandre Labs, but they’re not the only ones to have arrived.
“Hmm? Oh you’re back, how was Lumiose?” Mable asked a returning Celosia.
“It was a real festival of vines, too bad you had to stay here.” Celosia replies mockingly.
“Mable, a media copter is approaching.” One the Flare Grunts says to the both of them.
“Media copter?” Celosia asks in confusion.
“You know the drill, lets give our guests a warm welcome.” Mable says with a little grin.
I... I don’t like the sound of that.
Inside Prism Tower we find that both Clemont and Clembot just kicked some Flare Grunts asses!
Clemont is trying to unlock the door but unfortunately for him Team Flare has changed the lock code. Clembot decides to handle this by by interfacing with system to try and find the right code for the door.
Elsewhere Bonnie and Blazikenmask are watching as Squishy began to rampage into the streets now under the control of Team Flare.
Back on top of the tower Ash and Alan begin their battle with Lysandre.
“Pyroar and Gyrados use incinerate!” Lysandre orders as the two Pokemon fire their attacks.
“Pikachu and Goodra use Thunderbolt and Dragon Pulse!” Ash orders.
The attacks cancel each other out causing a mini explosion, but Ash isn’t wasting any time though and orders a Cut from Greninja who charges through the smoke.
Lysandre isn’t no slouch either and orders a Hyperbeam from Pyroar which makes contact with Greninja who is blocking the attack with Cut.
“Noivern use Boomburst!” Ash shouts out which cancels out Hyperbeam.
“Charizard, Dragon Claw lets go!” Alan shouts out as it charges straight towards Pyroar.
“Gyrados use Stone Edge!” Lysandre yells
Then pillars of stone pops up out of the ground and hits Mega Charizard X right in the gut, but Ash orders a Dragon Claw and Karate-Chop from Noivern and Hawlucha.
“Alright, Pyroar use Firefang!” Lysandre orders.
The attack manages to hit Noivern but Hawlucha got revenge for Noivern when he hit Pyroar with Karate-Chop.
“Pikachu use Thunderbolt now!” Ash shouts.
With that Pyroar is down and out!
We are now treated to clips of what everyone are doing during the crisis and things are really heating up now.
“In the face of great danger everyone is doing what they can battling in their own way. What will become of Ash and Alan as they face off with Lysandre.” The Narrator states to the audience.
“We’re not going to let you win, we’ll save Squishy! You’re selfishness will not destroy the world!” Ash proclaims to Lysandre who just groans at his statement.
“The greatest threat in Kalos history is about to move into a even more critical stage, as the journey continues."
