920: "Satoshi VS Champion Carnet! VS Mega Sirnight!!"
913: "Championing a Research Battle!"
We begin with Olympia letting Diantha know of the disaster that is to befall Kalos. After that (and an okay theme song), we see Ash racing Greninja through some trees.
Ash loses.
While taking a breather, a special guest drops in: the Kalos Champion herself. This ends up being another great chance for Greninja to try out his new form and for Clemont to study it. Today, Ash and Greninja will be…
But before the battle starts, some bad news is revealed:
An island has become the Spirit Wilds! And so have other places in Kalos! Before you know it, Kalos could end up becoming the site of a Spirit Portal!
But before discussion about this and Zygarde’s possible involvement in this can continue, the topic swerves to Greninja’s new form. And on that note, battle commences. Yo-Kai Watches at the ready, they’re ready to go.
Greninja opens with Cut and Gardevoir dodges without a command. She does the same with the next incoming attacks from Greninja. Not a single one of Greninja’s attacks lands. So far, no change. Now Gardevoir goes on the offensive with Shadow Ball and Greninja goes on defensive with Double Team. A multitude of Shadow Balls mows down all the copies and hits the real one. Ash’s next strategy is to spam Water Shuriken, which Gardevoir dodges and then counters with Moonblast.
Which hits Greninja so hard against a tree that his mouth fell off. Gotta love these shots that accidentally make it look like he has no mouth.
Greninja gets back into the fray with more Water Shuriken spamming. But this time, it comes careening out of the dust kicked up by the spamming and hits Gardevoir with Cut. After finally getting in a hit, it happens.
Thanks for that interruption, Diglett. Though yours wasn’t as bad as that shiny Phantump’s.
Ash-Greninja opens with Cut, which is blocked by Shadow Ball. Both collide and explode. The same happens with Water Shuriken landing on another Shadow Ball. More attacking/dodging ensues, knowing that one hit could win Ash the battle. A hit lands, but the battle continues. And now that Ash’s Pokémon has transformed, it’s time for Gardevoir to do the same. Another explosive Water Shuriken/Shadow Ball collision happens, then Gardevoir blocks Greninja’s Aerial Ace with Reflect (what???). Another flurry of attacks is blocked, and then Ash-Greninja takes its water cloak off…
…and just about breaks through all of our TV screens/computer monitors in the process.
Water Shuriken finally lands, but then Ash faints again. When everyone goes to check on him, an interruption happens.
“Prepare for trouble, not ‘what,’ but ‘who.’”
“And make it double, our eyes are on you.”
“To protect the world from devastation.”
“To unite all people within our nation.”
“To denounce the evils of too much power.”
“To extend our reach to our finest hour!”
“Jessie!”
“And James!”
“Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!”
“Surrender now, or prepare for a scene-stealing fight!”
“Meowth, that’s right!”
“Wobbuffet!”
Seems they also brought a horrifically bland march with them.
Mega Gardevoir escapes Team Rocket’s trap in an instant and sends them blasting off. Most meaningless Trio interruption yet.
Back where things really matter, Ash and Greninja awaken. The secret to this transformation is still unknown, so Ash and Greninja still have to discover what it is, and what it might have to do with the Kalos disaster.
Speaking of, Xerosic and Lysandre are plotting something with Z2.
But enough of that. The trip to Snowbelle City continues as the journey is…
