Quality is a very subjective thing. Anything that sounds remotely related to another thing is always going to be similar to something that also sounds related to that one thing. It's impossible to confirm which of the soundtracks is more appropriate because someone will always say the other one is better. It's a fact of life and there is no way to change that. The best thing one can do is settle down and keep the differing opinions from creating friction and strife. I honestly think the TPCI soundtrack is boring and I also think the JP soundtrack is better. I know various people disagree, so I intentionally try to keep this bit of info to myself. That way, nobody attempts to chew someone else's head off.

My problem with whoever in TCPI is handling the music is they change it way too quickly, barely leaving any breathing space between them.
And it changes too frequently as well, I mean an evolution sequence doesn't need multiple tracks, just pick one that reflects the great moment.

The Long Vault Home!
It'll always bug me how the dub pronounces Tsareena's name as just "Serena" with a Z instead of an S. Speaking of whom, she once again keeps her leg in place when stomping on Kiawe. No heel digging; just a stomp. (Proof: )
Of all of Viren's appearances, this is definitely his least scummy. He wasn't even remotely villainous here.
Stakataka sure got an intense-sounding theme, eh? Best of the Ultra Beast themes so far. Dub music's standard fare other than that, but ugh on TPCi keeping that one JP track when Stakataka got caught. I would've preferred something relevant to how last week's episode ended, but this one was okay enough.

Kiawe gave no hoots concerning collateral on Viren's statue or his ugly mug. That was hilarious!

I Choose Paradise!
"I wasn't sure if Flygon could even swim." Well Mallow, just because Ground-types are weak against water in battle doesn't mean the natural element itself will have an effect on them like pure alcohol on Thrax. Same for any type weak against water; that's a battle-only thing (except maybe for some species like the Slugma line).
And here Team Rocket proves why greed is a deadly sin. They totally would've won if they left after loading their yellow submarine. Oh well.
All that can be said on this episode content-wise is that it's fun; character interactions were fun, the setting was fun, the music was fun, and since fun is what the SM saga is at the core, this is so far the best SM episode ever.

Technically speaking, Flygon and Garchomp are both Ground and Dragon types, so Water isn't super effective. It's neutral. On a related note, I just realized that the Ultra Guardians use a lot of Dragon types as Ride Pokémon.

Filling the Light with Darkness!
About time Kukui put on a shirt. Kiawe's turn now.
You know, that narration at the beginning approaches the self-aware style of narration I wish would make it into a Pikachu short.
Principal Oak's Vulpix only took forever to appear again.
Jessie and James are supposed to be 17, so how is it the negativity whatever is affecting them? They're not adults yet (though to be fair, they're just one year off from that point, but still, the negativity shouldn't be getting to them until they're adults).
At long last, Giovanni's secretary has a name I can call her in English. Matori is her dub name, meaning TPCi kept it. Strange as this'll sound coming from me, that's not a problem.
Oh dear, that one title card theme that bastardizes the Nearby Ultra Beast theme is back. No, I haven't missed it one bit and can't wait for it to go away. But after that, the music is above average. The string of average episode scores is over.
Good to be back to serious stuff that gave this season its name.

I'm not 100% on this, but did they ever explain why the adults were getting all sluggish, but not the kids or Pokémon?

Though Necrozma isn't an Ultra Beast (a fact none of the anime characters could possibly be aware of.), I must point out that UB: Black is a cool codename!

Full Moon and Many Arms!
So I guess Necrozma is an Ultra Beast after all. The games weren't clear about that, though that was probably on purpose.
Well, once more a Legendary has a stock monster voice as its voice. You don't need to make every Legendary sound like Toho's repertoire of monsters, Status QuOLM. Also, quit stealing the Boga cry from Revenge of the Sith already. You used it for enough sagas and movies.
Not only does Matori keep her JP name, but so does Gozu. Good to see TPCi finally notice them. It was a hassle having to call them generic stuff these past few years.
"It absorbed Solgaleo, and then disappeared..." Hala, I know you're afflicted by the negativity thing, but we the audience have eyes that saw what Necrozma did.
Didn't miss Samson's awful-in-any-language puns at all.
The music during the absorption scene was fantastic, as was the track for when Tapu Koko arrived. However, I must admit I would've liked the Necrozma vs Lunala battle to have some new music other than the usual stuff. That was the only weakness of this episode's music.
Things have started to get interesting.

"The Prism Between Light and Darkness!"
Why is Kukui letting Starlight Glimmer wannabe come along??
That is a strange voice Naganadel has, but it fits perfectly considering what it is.
First Mega Evolution all saga, and it swept.
That "lovely and charming villains" thing is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard Team Rocket say, bar none.
I like how this episode's music mainly had a mystical feel to it. Appropriate since this episode was lore-heavy.
Next week, the end of this arc (but strangely not the season).

Sorry, I hate Nagandel's telepathic voice in the English dub, that's not the kind of voice I want be telling me a story.
In the Japanese version it has the voice of a wise old woman, reflecting its intelligent, motherly and kind character.
While in the dub, it's like TPCI just took Nagandel being like an alien for its voice, but ignored its character overall.
And just for the record, in the original verison its own voice is alien-like, it's only its human-speak that's different.

When it's comes to intensity, this arc is way up there. Powerful beings with tragic pasts. A desire to protect those who struggling and to stop those who dared to take advantage of those beings. For a series as lighthearted as this, the drama is reaching it's zenith!

Securing the Future!
No title screen, huh? The title's only just said by Ash at the point I'm assuming the title was overlayed in the JP version. There isn't even an opening in this episode.
Kukui slipped a bit into his Masked Royal voice when doing the Z-Move. That was clever.
Matori got grounded by Tapu Koko. That's my favorite Alola Legendary.
The montage of the light being given to Necrozma had another use of the stars theme (heard in the Minior episode among others). That was spectacular. And right before the montage was a moment of actual silence. Dub music advocate that I am, I admit the dub needs more of that. Oh and the montage of when Poipole stayed behind got the new best track of Ultra Adventures. It's always the best idea to treat super-important scenes like this with the utmost care, and that's exactly what Mr. Goldfarb did. As a result, we got the most emotional moment the show will ever have all weekend.
One more thing I have to say about the montage sequence: as much as I prefer its dub self, the JP version would have won if Mima would've just waited until this episode to use Future Connection in an episode proper. Legit query to all reading this: wouldn't that song have meant more and given more impact to this scene if this was the only time within an episode proper that it was used? Really think about it. Future Connection was used for:
a Dewpider trying to find a new home a baking montage Lycanroc kicking its aversion to dirt Pikachu defeating Mimikyu Z-Move fireworks playing with Minior Tsareena showing her butt to the world Steenee evolving
and finally Poipole's goodbye.
Doesn't anyone else think that seven prior uses removes a lot of its uniqueness and lessens the impact of an important scene? Said scene was the eighth time that song was used. It should've been the first and only time.
But anyway, this arc was neat. And yes, I think Ultra Adventures should've ended on this episode.

Curses. Once again, this episode breaks me down and breaks down and never let's up! Poipole, you were a welcome addition. May your new path treat you welcome...
