Why does this bother me so much? Well because Hisui/Harriet has the most emotional story of all, I will not spoil it (unless you've already read the movie's transcript) but I'll just say it involves crying and I have confidence in Nozawa that she nailed this moment perfectly, but I worry for the dub's voice actress performance of that scene, if the voice continues to be bad as it was in the dub trailer for the 21st movie. Hopefully I'm wrong and she does a good job as well. Because, to me, even whether the music during that scene is, excellent, good or just okay, that doesn't matter, it's the delivery of the voice performance that's the most important, because it can greatly effect the tone and emotions of the scenario. I know exactly which part you're talking about, and it's 90% of the reason a dub soundtrack would've been nice due to Ed Goldfarb's mastery at emotional moments. I'm legit dreading experiencing how Miyazaki fucks it up. And generally, as soon as I heard the JP music was going to be kept, I regretted ever having gotten my ticket for it.
(By the way, as you know, certain people in the sub side of Pokemon's sub/dub war gave me shit just for being a dub fan years before and had sunk to some despicable lows to do so. So I spoiled that point of the movie for them last week. Best revenge ever. Though my only regret with that was not making sure others wouldn't be able to stumble on it.)

I don't remember the term, but it involves someone focusing too much on one little detail and letting it soil an entirely huge thing. It happens to me all the time, like with parodies that go too far and make me avoid what was being parodied in the first place. It'll come to me.

Now then, to see a Pokemon cartoon entry with actually good music by talented people.
Showering the World With Love!
This one's got an impressive reputation so far as I've heard.
This one's a landmark for the dub as Kate Bristol has officially retired from TPCi, and this is her final episode. The reason is that she's a mother now and had to move back to Texas. She had a great run, and I'll miss her voicework.
Poipole and Minior made for an adorable friendship. And it was great seeing everyone just having some fun. It's good to have a break sometimes.
See? SEE??!! THIS is how to do music properly (not just Pokemon cartoon music; ANY music, even soundtracks that are better than Pokemon): accurately represent what's going on onscreen and fill it with the emotion it needs!! Why doesn't Miyazaki realize that?! Literally EVERY OTHER MUSICIAN ON EARTH does!!!!!
With that out of my system, yes, the soundtrack was amazing. The highlights were the constellation scene, Minior's theme (which has now taken the Tapu Bulu theme's place as the best all season), and the entire ending scene (featuring a very unexpected reuse of the Zygarde fixing everything theme from XYZ to brilliantly tragic effect). Definitely the most emotionally impressive Pokemon moment since M20 just for the amazing soundtrack. All it needed was really soft sounds and sparse instrumentation to make for a truly memorable moment. Kudos, Mr. Goldfarb! Kudos!!
This was a very nice episode, totally deserving of its reputation as a SM saga highlight.

Well Harriet's voice sounds even worse than before, now she sounds like a gremlin. Yep, I'm sticking with the Japanese version of the 21st movie.
Sorry TPCI, but keeping the original music is not going to make me watch the 21st movie English when you give me terrible voice acting like that.

Sorry TPCI, but keeping the original music is not going to make me watch the 21st movie English when you give me terrible voice acting like that. I'm actually surprised you could even hear anyone over how obnoxiously loud the JP music is. I couldn't hear a single word from anybody. |

You all know I think Shinji Miyazaki is a Godawful composer. The Power of Us changed that viewpoint for the worse. I couldn't even finish the movie, the soundtrack was so awful. As soon as that one scene Don hinted at played, I was out. See, here's the thing: "The Power of Us" is a character-driven movie, and Mr. Ed Goldfarb's compositional style basically revolves around leitmotif (character themes). Ergo, if ANY Pokemon movie needed him composing (or at least someone who understands and uses leitmotif), it's "The Power of Us." Miyazaki doesn't understand it (and, come to think of it, has he ever used it himself??) nor does he understand how to put any heart, soul, and emotion into his music. This movie NEEDED ALL of that, and it had NONE. Fucking NONE. And so, it horribly failed.
And so, since I bailed before the movie was over (albeit returning just in time to see the ending song, which was GORGEOUS), I'm not reviewing it until I see what I missed.

Outside is too much for the eternally shirtless Kiawe, but inside the nearly just a scold cave isn't? Cartoon logic, huh?
No scenes of Pikachu's group? The Hell?
Lillie should've caught that Sandshrew.
After the Miyazaki-ified movie I sat through 80% of today, anything is godly in comparison, even an average score like this episode's. Miyazaki's noise really is a kiss of death...
This one was okay. An important thing happened, but other than that, this episode wasn't substantial.

So wierd... So dissonant...(Except the big one) I"ve literally never had a problem when it came to a dub voice until I heard Alolan Sandshrew. Like, holy cow.
They got Sandslash right, but not Sandshrew?!
